I'm explaining each song I put in my Witch Hat Atelier Playlist (the one with words not the background music one). I will sum up the song, then explain why I think it fits a storyline or character. I include pictures for fun.
All the songs mentioned in this section of the playlist are from the band "Sleeping At Last". These songs are part of an album where each song is about an anagram type. Other playlist posts I make on WHA include non-Sleeping At Last songs.
Spoilers for the WHA manga. I try to avoid big ones, but I can never promise.
64. One- by Sleeping At Last. This song is about a person who tries to be as perfect as possible. They want to leave a mark on the world to be noticed and remembered. Feeling like they can always get better, moving the goal posts further and further, and in the end, they learn that love isn't reliant on perfection. They deserve it too. This song fits Agott and her struggle to be the best she can. As well as her growth as she learns to love both magic and herself.
65. Two- by Sleeping At Last. This one is about someone who loves others and will do anything for them, even if it means sacrificing their own joy and comfort. This is Qifrey, and everything that is wrong with him (I say lovingly). His love for the members of his household is everlasting, and he puts them first in all he does, but that really doesn't leave him with much to take care of himself (for REASONS, but I digress).
66. Three- by Sleeping At Last. This song is about someone who was the "golden child," they feel burnt out and feels they've done enough. They are figuring out who they want to be for themselves. Saying how they are tired of playing a role for others. Finally free to be themselves. This very much reminds me of Olruggio and his whole deal with being the "star of Ghodrey". Growing up being a celebrity with big expectations thrust upon him. He still has that, but he is an adult now and can be whoever he wants.
67. Four- by Sleeping At Last. This one is about someone searching for answers in the world around them. They mention turning out the lights and hoping for a renaissance to explain things. Feeling like it's all one big game of hide and seek. But they love the world and are fascinated by it, almost drawn to it. This reminds me of Tartah and his search for the answers to how magic should be handled. searching in the dark with the brims, feeling like it's all a game like the dumb rules of the day of the pact, and despite all of it still loving magic and wanting to use it for others' benefits.
68. Five- by Sleeping At Last. This song is about how an introvert who hides themselves away so as not to be truly seen by others due to fear or distrust. They love the intricate parts of reality and find such beauty in it. Finally, they allow themselves to be seen for who they are and embrace the world around them. This feels like Richeh to me. Her excitement for her magic and her avoidance of others in an attempt to keep her magic untouched. Then she grows and learns to embrace the things she has yet to learn.
69. Six- by Sleeping At Last. This one is about a person who is anxious and worried about so many things, but despite that, they find a way to be brave and use their vigilance to protect others. This is Euini. His fear and his worries about casting and how he overcomes them. He is now out in the world trying to learn to survive and protect both himself and others.
70. Seven- by Sleeping At Last. This song is about someone who wants to explore the world and all it has to offer. They want to keep looking to the future, no matter what happens, hoping it brings better things. They admit it stems from a fear of being still and complacent with the way things are. They do this as a way to remain hopeful even in the face of hardship. This is Tetia. She loves the world and the people in it wholeheartedly. She wants to experience it all and enjoy what she can. It might stem from bad things she experienced in the past, but she remains hopeful through it all for herself and others.
71. Eight- by Sleeping At Last. This one is about someone who, at a young age, went through so much hardship and grew into a warrior who shouldn't have had to. They have lost a lot and are closed off to others because of it. As the song continues, we see the singer slowly open up more and say that they want someone to break down their walls and help them. Of course, this song fits Custas the most. He has struggled his whole life due to his social class, he has lost people that are important to him, and he is having a hard time allowing others to try and help him because he has a hard time trusting anyone anymore. But he needs the help, and he does want it. It's just hard to allow it. We'll just have to wait and see how the rest of his story goes.
That's all the new songs!
