Sun Wukong. Radiant Wukong, brilliant Wukong, shines like the sun and hero to China Wukong. These days, especially around Pigsy's Noodles, it felt like you couldn't go five minutes without hearing someone singing his praises. It felt like the King's golden light had a grip on the entirety of Megapolis. But you knew better. No matter how convincing the radiant disguise, a demon was still a demon. And that made him your most infuriating target

Countless hours spent tracking him down, following his trail of shallow pride and gold glimpses of his energy. It felt like a battle of wits. With great annoyance, you had come to the realization that he was toying with you. The way he'd give you that pointed smile of amusement, telling you he hopes to meet you again— it was sickening. How could he belittle you like this? Why was he so insistent on pretending to be this kind hero?

Currently, you are in the forest of Flower Fruit Mountain. The leaves rustled with weight hopping between them, branches bending before the figure among them bounced to the next. You spun around, following the movement as best you could. Then, all at once, a flash of orange fur. The second grass crunched as he hit the ground, you swung around and ran to him. Your shoulder connected with his chest, and he toppled back onto the grass. "Sun Wukong" You began firmly, shoe planting in the center of his chest— not hard, just enough to keep him still. His brows upturned and he gave you a small smile "You're getting a lot faster-" he grunted "Good job"

"I don't need compliments from you" You scoffed at him. He chuckled, a hand reaching up to hold your leg. "Awh, I'm hurt" he said with a fake frown "I thought if I let you win, you'd cheer up a bit". "Let me-?" You repeated suspiciously. Your words were cut short when he suddenly pushed you back, causing you to stumble as he lifted himself from the ground. "I've been doing this for, what, six centuries?" Wukong said, his tail wrapping around your waist. You looked up, seeing his golden eyes staring right into yours, with that stupid soft smile back on his face

"Maybe you should do your homework before fighting the monkey who took on heaven, eh, gorgeous?" He asked, only becoming more amused seeing your frustrated expression. You turned out of his hold, stepping back with a deep huff. "Why play this game?" You asked, pointing your weapon "Do you demons really enjoy playing with your food that much?"

"Food?" Wukong asked, a hearty chuckle coming from him "Ah, no. I'm not that type of demon. I usually eat whatever I can make" he said. To illustrate his point, he plucked out a strand of hair to blow on. After a brief flash of gold, he held a medium sized box in his hands, topped with a bow. He held it out to you "Here, try some. You must be hungry after all that running"

"I'm not gonna eat your hair" you replied, stepping back a bit more "What's it gonna do? Turn me to stone? Give me claws and fangs like you?". "Uhh.. it might give you a stomach ache if you eat it too fast?" Wukong guessed, looking over the box "I don't know, it's never been an issue for me or the kid". "You fed those to MK?" You asked, completely appalled. "Well yeah, he gets hungry during training" Wukong said. He then shrugged, holding the box close. "Look, if you don't want it-"

"Hand it over" you interrupted, holding your hand out. Wukong raised an eyebrow, smug once more. He passed it over, and you almost snatched it from his hold. Opening it, you found nothing but neatly organized mantou with a pineapple bun on the side, finished off with the inclusion of youtiao. None of it looked off, and if anything it smelled great. You closed the lid, keeping it in your hands "I'll make sure you didn't tamper with it. Who knows what kind of tricks you're capable of". "If that makes you happy, go for it" Wukong shrugged

You rolled your eyes, beginning to walk back the way you came. Clearly this Monkey King was trying to get on your good side, but why? Maybe you couldn't take him down yet, but analyzing his 'gifts' would be a good start. And it did smell really good... maybe a bite or two wouldn't hurt. Just to see if it's got anything inside it! Maybe he tricked the taste or something! Yes yes, all a very practical search, you reassured yourself. Indulgence for the greater good!

Wukong watched as you went, fondness in his gaze. You were so cute when you got all grumpy like that. It felt nice to have you so close, even if for only that short moment. He wasn't blind to your intentions, he knew you sought to win over him. He sighed, a hand coming up to rest on his chest, feeling the way his heart was beating. Little did you know, you'd won over something else entirely
