Bane laughed, low and throatily. It was a sound of both disbelief and amusement. After everything, Bane wasn’t sure Erynn was ready to be absorbed in her own world. “That is a worrying sentiment. Being lost in your mind along these corridors is one thing, but in the real world cariño, I fear it may have undesirable consequences.” 

He crossed his arms as he regarded her. “As for my own mind, I have my own burdens to bear. But this is not about me, this is about you. Are you in need of another session with Bane? I can help you see without thoughts making you blind, Erynn. I will be happy to assist you.”

“Everything seems to have undesirable consequences lately,” she found the words in her mouth before she realised exactly what they were saying. But that was just the way things had been going lately, everything moving faster around her than she was willing to go.

For some split second everything felt in place once more, she though that she could finally walk in time with everything else around her. But that feeling slipped right back through Erynn’s fingers the moment she stepped back into the halls of Novus, the moment she stepped back home. “I'm pretty sure it’s my turn to be the teacher.”

Arno looked over his shoulder. “I keep that in mind. Let’s proceed.” He said as he faced away and braced for the unfamiliar experience.

Dipping the end of the gun into the ink she poured into a separate container she allowed the drips to run off, one hand trailing to rest on the boy’s back. “Okay take a deep breath in, and slowly let it out.” That was when the brunette listed it to Arno’s back, and the buzzing sound started.

“I must be cruel, only to be kind.” Bane scanned Erynn from head to toe, wondering how the years had treated her. Had she adapted and thrived from what he had taught her? “Even so, I have since learnt that kindness isn’t as virtuous as one may think. It is a weakness.”

“Come on you’re back with your old classmates, I know some of them can be pretty off the rails, but I doubt any will try and fuck you over.” Staring at the man in front of her was strange to say at the least, being back at the school, talking to kids she once tried her hardest to distance herself from. “Or are you gonna stay so serious this whole thing?”

“Yeah man… this is my jam.” Peter said as he danced awkwardly, a cup of punch in hand.

Harley looked around the room, everyone looked so different and yet in Harley’s mind no one had hardly changed at all. Feeling a tap on her shoulder she turned around, “Can I he–” Harley started. “Oh it’s you!” she squealed with joy.

The moment Erynn saw her previous room mate she couldn’t resist the bound in her step, practically skipping over just to tap the woman on her shoulder. “Holy fuck,” She beamed pulling Harley into a tight hug. “Look at you, for christ sake.”

“All this time you have all had. To grow, to change. Yet each and every one of you have stayed the same. Insignificance reeks from your pores. It is a shame, really. I expected more from my former associates.”

“How is it that you’ve managed to grow even crueler than you were,” as the woman spoke there was the slight amusement dancing in her tone, and laughter in her eyes. “Is it your new accessory?”

Everywhere Erynn stepped there was another person in the crowd that bustled about, each one excited as the next, pushing past and scurrying off to places she was sure they didn’t need to rush to. The blonde however she walked through with delicate steps, avoiding running into students, avoiding hitting fellow classmates. All the while wondering just how much she would have liked to be sitting down, a glass of scotch in her hand.

But she continued walking through, through the loud shouting, and through the constant hugging obstacles. There was a faint call, something she thought was her name amidst the crowds. She peered her head over her shoulder, dark eyes scanning the abundance of bodies, but there was nothing, no one familiar at least. As she turned her head back around, taking one step forward, that was when she came stumbled for the slightest of seconds finding herself face to face with a familiar one. There wasn’t much more expression spreading across her painted lips, “God damn, I’m sorry. Everyone everywhere, and then I thought- Then bam, you.”

Arno got up with the mirror in hand and venture to the nearest mirror. While observing her sketch Arno said. “Looks rather well done.” He proceeded to the bed and sat down in front of her again. “Ready for act two?”

Erynn allowed a proud smile to cross her lips as the boy made his way back to the side of her bed, and she began to rummage through the rest of her equipment. First pilling out a plain black pot of ink, and filling a small tube with it. “Ready when you are, remember, it’s okay to cry.”

“Yes! And we are currently looking for more students if you are looking get into late registration?” he asks plopping down on the couch across from her and beginning to fiddle with the laptop laid out on the table.

“I think I might enjoy the class,” As the girl spoke she continued to watch him move around the room, from the door to making himself comfortable on the couch. “But I don’t know much about the program.”

Bold Bottles || Erynn & Selina

“Well, I am disappointed.” Selina replied whilst watching the girl take a sip of her drink, in the thief’s normal state of alert and aware. Selina looked like she was just leaning carelessly against the wall, but if even a pin had dropped without Selina being prepared for it, her reflexes would of been almost instant. “But I’ll let you off because you’re cute. Are you coming in or what?”

Selina raised an eyebrow, a little unease at how the girl hadn’t moved from the door. Her feet were killing her although she had a pet hate of being at a different level to anyone else in the room. She sat down on the desk, deciding to give the girl ten seconds to come in on her own accord before Selina starting throwing out commands. “What’s your name, anyway?”

It wasn’t until Selina mentioned that she had just been standing at the door for the entire time that Erynn actually noticed herself, it was strange really. Taking a couple of steps further in she forced an apologetic smile to her lips, “Sorry. It just feels like forever since I’ve been in someone else’s dorm room.” She could remember the last time like it was just yesterday, not a blurry time separated by  months in between.

“Erynn,” The brunette lifted the glass of water to her lips once again as she placed herself on the bed beside Selina. “I used to be able to be some help, could get secrets in a matter of seconds if I tried hard enough.” There was a laugh at her lips, although it wasn’t as joyful as it was bitter. “But now I’m just cute, so I guess that’s not too bad.”

The room is cozy and well appointed, the wrap around leather couch filling the middle of the room. Around the walls are books of every shape, age, and texture from leather bound editions that appear to have aged a thousand years to slim steel folios that seem to be from a time not yet had. Amidst this is a sea of relics, art, and other items from all corners of history and beyond. A Van Gogh print rests beneath the hanging skeleton of some ancient beast and beside a suit of armor of some ancient style but strangely made of modern materials. All of this sits in the soft afternoon light pouring through the large windows opposite the door.

On the table in the middle of the room sits what looks like a large metallic rock, its side cracked open exposing a core of wires and shining parts, wires stretched out like entrails and connected to a beat up laptop in the middle of the table.

“So what brings you here Miss… crap I still don’t have your name. Feel free to sit anywhere just avoid putting your feet on the machinery on the table and lets get to who and what brought you here.”

There was something about the lay out of the room, about the way the clutter filled the space, and artefacts scattered about, the way the couch sat so welcoming, that made the girl feel anything but at home. While the room looked welcoming enough with each step she took further in, each pace she paced, she grew increasingly uncomfortable.

And yet Erynn walked further in, finding comfort in simply leaning against the table in the centre of the room. “I hear you’re running a side class here, Xeno I believe it’s called.”
