It has been over a year. The next, on Monday.
new music out later this month. 18/11.
Recording done. Handed the new songs into the studio to be mixed. Time to relax. Songs are sounding amazing
Being in a band is hard work and the way I describe it to people is like a marriage with four other people. Managing multiple schedules, expectations and opinions, spending a tremendous amount of time with each other, everyone always has a creative view that they believe in, and it is often watered down and chopped up within moments of entering it into the rehearsal- it’s brutal. There is a reason why so many bands fall apart or never get past the practice room. But there is one defining motive of why to pursue the creation of art in this manner- when the combination of the different personalities leads to an output that is far greater then could have been possible individually. When 2+2=5. Something happens. It’s where a person feels like they have created something truly above and beyond their ability, and this song and short film, is one of those moments.
Originally I wrote the bass guitar line over two years ago. I had spent the weekend listening to Death Cab for Cutie, went to a gig and saw Deftones, came home, and recorded away. Showing it to my brother, he then crafted the guitar ambience. We then handed the demo over to my good friend Jol, and with very little guidance for the drums, he came up with an awesome rhythmic foundation. A young film maker contacted me, saying how much he enjoyed the music, and wanted to put together a short film from footage that he would get from Vietnam. That was a year ago. I forget about it completely, until recently he showed me the finished film, and I was blown away. So here it is, Of Southern Skies, the short music film, four young men all creating art at a higher level possible then individually. This is why we create music. -joshua
Out on Monday.
This was one of the first songs we ever wrote, so its a real privilege that we can share it with you all. It just has a sense of energy and melodic emotion that really inspires us. When we perform the song, its like it has taken on a life of its own. Trees Don't Grow in Old Dead Countries.
Hey friends, we have filmed a few songs live from rehearsals which we will be releasing in the coming weeks. Here is our first, Melancholia.
Recording a live session
Back in the studio finishing off music from the self-titled sessions. New sounds coming very soon
Symmetry. It was around the Christmas holidays two years ago when Joel created the initial idea for this song, the staggering piano walk. Within days he had finished the demo, and the song has remained fairly similar since. And now, the music video and accompanying visual is completed. Imagination. Creativity. Nature. Innocence. Curiosity. Adventure.
Preview for the next short-film/music video.
Taking a break from recording, Joel + Joshua.
Debut Album!!!
The album is here! Music and art are constantly evolving forms and currently there is uncertainty regarding how to correctly price music. Major changes are happening and instead of fighting it musicians should embrace new ideas. So we have given you a choice. As it is the most popular form of online music purchase the album is available on iTunes worldwide. It is also available on Band Camp for the audio connoisseurs who like their sound in high-quality formats like FLAC and on the internet radio streaming sites like Last.fm and Spotify. For those who like the word free, the album is also available for free download from Mediafire.
We wanted to release the album for free but we also wanted to give you the opportunity to support us financially if you wanted to. The choice is yours. Also note that a physical copy will be out in September with 30 minutes of extra music and bonus content.
We hope you enjoy the album.
