The thing about Widobrave is I don't think its definable. I don't feel comfortable saying its platonic, romantic or familial but I don't think its none of those. Its all three. Its weird as fuck. Its intense. Its awesome. I think that makes some people uncomfortable, but thats what makes it so good!! Its messy!! Its real as hell.

Queerplatonic is how I see them, but I don't think what they feel isn't romantic. But its not squarely romantic either!

I'm a complete new fan, I haven't watched alot of episodes and got spoiled through clips but I am in love with this Campaign! Vox Machina had my heart but Mighty Nein has my SOUL! Especially Nott! I love her so much on a personal level and I just love her story! Her voice! Her design! Her panic and sincerity! I can't get enough of her and Sam played her story so good! I can't even fathom the complex relationship with Caleb either!

I know I already in the unpopular side, but Widoghast has soo much depth to it in every way to see the relationship! I can't wait to see these two people happy for themselves again! Very hopeful and beautiful and creative!

I went on a praise rant but does anyone else feel this way? This intense? Especially about the PC? I imagine so because cmon it's Criticsl Role! Must be thousands with their amount of fans. i think its inherently a funny thing in rping where we will make literally any character gay for having the slightest positive reaction in media with the same gender/along with our rps even though most of the characters we turn gay typically are cannonly straight or what say you and thats fine. NO ONE THROWS A FIT ABOUT TURNING CANONLY STRAIGHT CHARACTERS GAY most of us are like “fuck it more ships right?”

Lowkey watching this fandom already starting to decay into fighting somewhat concerns me, as child me watched a very similar thing happen in the fucking Rise of the Guardians fandom, which lead to a Purge of content that removed some of the best fics and fanart because it wasn’t “uwu soft appropriate” enough.

And yes I know that sounds like a whistle for racism or queerphobia, but like - even fics about adopted families were targeted because they were “too depressing” when a dead wife or mom was mentioned or some shit. No phobia shit involved.

And I fear that this fandom is gonna split between “lol slurs and violence” and “only this is acceptable” and all the relatable, complex, middle-ground work will be hate-spammed and either deleted or never created for fear of Upsetting The Mobs.

The post and the comments on this post bring up good points. Not only about HAZBIN Hotel but about all artistic projects.

While taking notice of hurtful projects is very important to help snip dangerous ideas and prejudice in place, the line has been blurred too much. It has happened that creative and wonderful projects are blamed for things they haven’t even, or couldn’t even imagine were hurtful to others. People need to learn to clear their ideas of what it could be threatening and instead look at what the creator is intending.

To all the artists and beautiful creative minds, if you ever receive this kind of criticism I hope you have the heart to read it and acknowledge it with respect and dignity. But never feel compelled to change your project if it is truly respectful of whatever issue you are addressing or true to the idea you are expressing. How can you know when a creation does this? I have no answer that would be acceptable to everyone. As long as it isn’t blatantly or suggestively aiming ill will to others there should be no problem.
