“Angie. Wake up. I think there’s people here.”-Daniel Won, 3am.
My parents were gone for a night. They had taken a trip to Coronado for my dad’s 50th birthday, something they usually never do. But of course, on the one night they aren’t here....
My brother returned to my room 5 minutes later with two knives. He set one on my bed, and took the other one with him downstairs.
“Stay in your room upstairs, I’m going to look around”
After about 45 minutes of hearing my brother pace about the house, look through the blinds, open doors and the garage, I was truly convinced that he had finally lost it. Completely off the rockers. Insane.
At around 4 he asked me to stand on the steps and keep watch out of our front door windows. I grudgingly complied, and saw no movement.Â
At around 4:45 he told me to go back to sleep, and that he’d stay up just in case.
Finally, I asked him what was going on. Apparently, at around 3 he was downstairs and had saw our motion sensor lights in the front turn on, then off. then on, then off. Curious, he peeked outside the windows and saw movement. After he grabbed two knives and woke me up, he went downstairs. He opened the garage, and saw two men on our front lawn. He raised the knife and took steps toward them. Seeing the knife, they both ran down the street into a car that drove off in a loud noise. Even I remember hearing the car zoom off. For the rest of the night he kept watch around the house, and even slept on the couch in front of our front door.
When my parents got back, he told them the story. They looked around our house and saw that our front lawn had foot prints, and that our front bench (a nice new bench) had handprints on it.Â
My brother’s pretty brave... But i had 911 dialed in on my phone the whole time just in case.Â
