Katara dropped to the snow panting, a chill touching her knees as melting water seeped in where her pants touched the frost-biten ground.
Not good enough. She scowled, squinting through the shadows of dawn to her target –her own parka laid over a large rock some odd distance away. Her attack had been powerful, but had missed by several inches.
It was hard not to hear the voice of a certain prince in her head, reminding her to breathe, to focus. If she shut her eyes, she could feel his hands guiding hers… Katara shivered, though not for lack of an extra layer and shook her head to clear her mind of memories better left in the past.

The Fire Nation Royal Family: Fire Lord Zuko, Master Katara of the Southern Water Tribe, Queen Consort of the Fire Nation, Crown Princess Kya (age 7), Prince Kallik (age 3), and Princess Kira (age 2).
I spent a very long time painting a background for this, and then in the end it looked better with a 2 minute edited AtLA screencap in the background instead. One day I shall master backgrounds, but alas not today.

Guys, y'know how Zuko has Druk, a dragon. And dragons are like the special animal for firebenders... And y'know how tui and la are the important spirit creatures for waterbenders (moon and ocean)...

me thinking about how if they really wanted to give aang an epic love story they should have given him a childhood best friend from his time that died during the 100 year war
and then maybe you could have hinted at toph being the reincarnation of said childhood best friend or if not toph then on ji or meng
though with the toph is a reincarnation of umi theory itd be better to just let toph be the reincarnated childhood friend
because swamp vision and also the only one who mentioned friendships lasting throughout lifetimes
i mean how perfect and poetic would that have been
