who: Aly & Evie | @evie-morrisāāāā when: Dinner Time where: Blue Water Avalon
It wasnāt like Aly to be early. Ever. The brunette was perpetually late to everything. Even when she went out of her way to allow herself extra time to get somewhere. She was always late, except for today. Aly arrived early at Blue Water Avalon and requested a table on the patio. It was a beautiful, clear skied evening, with a slight, chill in the Spring air. The sun was half an hour or so from sinking below the ocean lined horizon. She sipped a glass of wine while she watched it and waited for her friend date to arrive. It almost seemed ironic, how things had worked out. Over a year ago Aly had tried to go on a real date with Evie, but things didnāt come together. Aly started seeing Ben, Evieās best friend, just after. Which made Aly think that, either way, Evangeline Morris was supposed to be apart of her life.
When Aly thought about her life without the other brunette woman she was instantly reminded of that day in the alley, and the mugger who had held them at gun point. Would Aly have gone that way on her own? Maybe. Wouldāve things ended as well as they had? Absolutely not. It left her feeling a little in Evieās debt. Of which nothing she had to offer seemed worthy. Of course everyone loved the things that money could buy, but what was the monetary value of her life? A priceless gift. Forever unrepayable.Ā
āSalut, bonita!ā Aly greeted Evie warmly the moment she was in ear shot.Ā āYou look nice.ā She couldnāt help but flirt just a little. It was harmless flattery at this point.Ā āVery nice. And for me?ā Her tongue clicked.Ā āYou shouldnāt have.ā
.
As of late, Evie was, by far, the worst person someone could have for a friend. Work consumed her life and her free time was spent with the renovation when it wasnāt consumed with school. Days off were her best bet for any form of social life, but with the trial in progress, even that prep took precedence. Sometime soon, Evie needed to simply take a day off from working or school or from the renovation and sleep in before her body made the decision for her.Ā
The irony never escaped her about the dinner she had initially planned with Aly that had gone awry with a blackout. What had once would have been considered a date was now just simply a dinner. It was what spurred her to change from her work clothes into a sage-green maxi dress with nude-colored heels and swipe her dark hair into an artfully messy ponytail.
āHi, Iām so sorry Iām late. Iād love to say traffic was a bitch, but honestly, a contractor needed my okay on something Iāve okayed probably...ten times over,ā she said breezily as she adjusted the back of her earring.Ā āYou look really great. Iām so sorry. Iāve been so scatterbrained.āĀ
