Cold eyes watched her take a drag of the cigarette. A shark like smirk creeped across their face at the fit of coughing that expelled her.
“You would do just about anything I told you to wouldn’t you?”
They said. And that thought - it brought such a delight. They jumped up - suddenly! - and grabbed her by the wrist. With a fierce tug, they pulled her along, not really checking to see if she kept up.
“Evolet. That name.” They asked over their shoulder. “It means - “the lovely” doesn’t it? And if you spell it backwards - it almost spells “the love.” What a coincidence don’t you think?”
They dashed across the stone floor, feet pattering like rain. They were still pulling, to an unknown destination.
“Why did your parents name you Evolet?”
The smile, especially on the innocent face that was presented to her, was almost chilling, even having only caught it for a moment at the end of her coughing fit. “I didn’t want to be rude, Sir. I-” Words cut off with a surprise yelp when a hand closed around her wrist and practically yanked her from her chair, Evolet found herself following him without any idea what was happening.
“Um... Sir... Where are we-..” Once more she was interrupted as he started to speak, mouth snapping closed as to not be rude, her head nodded to confirm his thoughts, his words. “Yes, Sir. It’s a very nice coincidence.”
Blinking as he continued to tug her forward, she did her best to keep up, but this entire situation was throwing her off and something was telling her she’d rather be back in her cell than wherever it was he was taking her.
“I was named for my Grandmother, Sir. And she for hers, and she for hers, as far back as we know... or so I’ve been told. I assume my first granddaughter will be named Evolet as well.. if I ever have one.”
