The sea was quiet, apart from the hiss of foam running up the shore. And a pair of birds that scouted for fish. There was an overwhelming sense of calm, a shroud that muted out the troubles seeping from the town.

 Adon walked by the waves, pushing an old wheelbarrow covered in boxes and colorful fabrics. “There’s nothing to be sorry about.” He stopped and the wheel of his cart squeaked in protest. “I hope you don’t mind my asking, but what were you thinking about just now? You looked…Well, sad, if I’m being honest.”

in  truth,  little  of  victoria’s  attention  had  been  focused  on  her  OUTWARD  appearance,  the  blessed  isolation  that  the  retreat  had  so  often  gifted  her  allowing  her  escape  into  the  innermost  reaches  of  her  internal  thoughts.  they  belonged  to  her,  after  all  -  a  gift  she  so  often  overlooked  in  place  of  a  quiet  lamenting  for  all  the  components  of  her  life  that  did  not.  a  slight,  and  yet  very  much  visible,  embarrassment  took  to  her  expression  as  the  other  commented  on  this,  &&  with  flaming  cheeks  she  began  to  construct  an  explanation.

  WONDERMENT THAT WAS SOMEHOW STILL RESTRAINED with practiced care and decency. Itsuki, but of course, was not at all offended at that statement. Having received similar responses more times than she could count. This sis was certainly anything but RUDE about her curiosity. Flashing the other a friendly little grin of assurance then, she then gave a somewhat humorous bow of her head to her apologetic gesture, “None taken, sis! Ain’t gonna lie, it does catch lotsa folks off guard, when need be!”

a  relief  became  evident  in  victoria’s  expression  long  before  the  conscious  thought  had   settled,  making  for  something  of  an AMUSING  picture  when  the  two  facets  caught  up  with  each  other.  offering  a  smile  that  matched  that  of  her  counterpart  in  amiability,  she  tucked  her  hands  together  behind  her,  comforted  a  little  more in  her  own  interest  by  the  other  girl’s  immediate  warmth.   ❝ i  am  glad.  you  must  take  my  fascination  as  a compliment,  of  course !! although  i  suppose  i  am  somewhat  unaware  of  things ... what  exactly  do  you  use  it  for ?? ❞

        one would’ve thought ( after emily’s choice of departure ) that she would not be making a return to the LAND OF THE LIVING. yet, the bride still held an eagerness, a YEARNING to see just how things had ended up between the LIVING LOVERS she had come between all that time ago —— just because emily hadn’t had her own HAPPY ENDING didn’t mean she hoped the same for them. finding the van dort estate had been easy … the town wasn’t too vast to begin with ( not to mention, her GHASTLY ability to move through structures had come in handy, as she wasn’t too sure victoria would’ve let her in. ) she expects the living woman’s response —— shock, confusion, && possibly a bit of FEAR.  ‘ emily, dear … I think the name you’re looking for is emily. ‘  saccharine voice lets out into the room, gentle smile happening upon decayed visage.  ‘ —I wanted to pay a visit, to see how things were here … I wished to see if the two of you are as HAPPY TOGETHER as I believed you would be. ‘
