hmm....lovebirds kinda look like sourpatch watermelons
The young gorgon came running up to the front of the store when she heard a familiar roll of wheels- a excited look on her face as she was carrying a little present she made for Tick the next time she saw them. ‘Tick! Long time no see’ she signed- a little rusty but she was getting a hang of it. She set the pot behind her so Tick couldn’t see their surprise- a big smile on her face as the snakes in her hair moved about. All of them happy as clams. Or snakes in this case. (@satan ;)
The man had been alone for a while, surprised when someone went out of their way to speak to him. Or communicate in his main language. It was almost enough to make him smile.“Well hello Miss Ivy, it is good to see ya.” He signs back, parking his chair closest to the buildings so he’s not blocking foot traffic.“It’s been a while huh?” He asks.
Fun fact about me as a little kid: When I was about six years old, I used to live in Texas, and back then, I sincerely believed that tumbleweeds hatched from eggs.
My logic was thus: my family lived in the middle of practically nowhere, and I would see them rolling around a lot across the flatlands. I wondered how a plant could grow if it was rolling around all the time and didn’t have any leaves or flowers like other plants. But then I saw this nature documentary (NatGeo’s ”Really Wild Animals”) about coral reefs that described coral as “an animal that looks like a plant” . So I figured that tumbleweeds were a kind of “land coral”, I.E. a weird sort of animal that just looked like a dried-up shrub. From there I figured they laid eggs (purely on a guess). I imagined they were as big as soccer balls and had soft shells, like snake eggs.
A couple years later I moved from Texas and learned that they were plants; they just grew like regular shrubs and would dry up and snap off at their base to roll around and spread seeds. Still, the idea of “land coral” stuck with me- any artists/writers out there, feel free to use this as inspiration.

Heather glances over at her phone. Thats a diffrent text tone. She knows that one. She giggles and picks up the device.
‘Doing great! Whats up Jace?’
Jace is on his back, laying next to his computer, hes thinking about getting a dog. He picks up his phone and sighs in relief.
[Hey kiddo, just checkin in on you. Your old man/ball in chain was worried]
He smiles at his wording.
She smiles at his words and starts walking.
‘Dont see why hes worried. Its only been a few hours since I left.’
She looks up and around. Shes in a completely different town. She knows it’s been a couple days, but maybe she could convince Jace otherwise.
Jace laughs, knowing that trick. Hell he invented it.
[sure you have, how bout you tell me where you’re at and ill buy you something to eat. Maybe catch up a bit, havent been able to head to the bar for a while and i miss ya]
He slips on some shoes, humming softly.
She hums to herself and tries to think of the towns name she was in.
‘Redcliffe.’
It was a few towns over. A young like herself shouldnt have been able to make it that far on her own.
[Redcliffe? Sexy] Jace jokes, snorting to himself.
[you look up restaurants and decide where ya wanna go and ill be there faster than a flea on a rat.]
[have fun with that visual 😔👌] He adds a while later, laughing to himself.
She giggles and starts walking around the own. For once shes not wearing her normal dress. Shes wearing skinny jeans and shirt, and tennishoes.
‘Theres a nice caffe called fireside. Its cute.’
[meet cha there 🔥]
Jace smiles, turning his computer off and locking the door before poofing away. Hes not driving so far away, obviously not. But he is gonna text to tell Tristan hes got Heather to answer and is gonna talk to her.
Just common courtesy.
Heather settles down into her seat and starts looking over the menu. She knows Jace would only be a few minutes. He is an Angel after all.
He is there pretty quick, coming through the door confidently and moving to sit with Heather with a smile. Hes happy to see his daughter, see her in one piece and all.
“Hey you, how’s my favorite designer doing?” He asks, picking up the menu and humming.
“Im doing realllly good actually! Ive been practicing magic and and the psychic things you taught me.” She giggles and leans forward.
“How my favorite basically a dad, dad doing?”
“Im good, got off vacation a few months ago with Eli, met his parents. I nearly got eaten over a misunderstanding but it was cool.” Jace laughs, checking over the menu before picking something out.
“Im slammed at work, ive had to drop a few clients and recommend them to other practices, thankfully it seems there are more folks in the business now!” He seems in a good mood, but he missed this, missed talking with Heather. Shes a good kid.
She hums a bit, not really picking anything on the menu. “You met his parents? Were they cool?”
She kicks her feet under the table, a smile never leaving her face. “Ive been with Auntie the past few days.”
“Yeah they were cool, his dad tried to eat me at first thinking i was a human trapping his son on land and forcing him to be my husband or something before i cleared things up.” He seems happy to mention it, spirits high until Heather mentions her ‘Auntie’
“A-Auntie?” Jace looks shocked, then mortified. His face goes pale.
“Yeah! My Auntie. Shes teacher me fire magic and all. She says im not supposed to tell dad though. Because we werent… supposed to leave.” She gives a shy smile.
Jace calms, taking a breath to try and collwct himself.
“Your dad is really scared for you, he thinks you were kidnapped. Everyone is scared for you back home kiddo.” He keeps his tone relaxed and kind, but hes worried. He wants to take her home, get her away from the madwoman she’s staying with.
She glances to the side and frowns. “But shes happier than dad… She doesnt sit around and drink. Shes not that bad! Shes a great aunt.”
Clearly she doesnt know what Annie has done.
Jace looks aghast, leaning forward and whispering.
“Did he never tell you…?” He whispers, fear in his voice. “She’s why i was hurt so bad all those months ago Heather, she tried to bind Stan’s soul to hers to make drugs Heather!”
Heather frowns and looks over her shoulder. Annie was back at the hotel doing whatever.
“I didnt realize that. I guess… I guess Ill go home then.”
Jace nods, shaking a bit. Theres a few feathers on the floor from fear.
“How bad would it be for us to, go now…?” He asks, looking around. He looks nervous, wanting to get his daughter somewhere safe now. He sees a lot of bad outcomes if Annie comes in.
She sighs a bit, “I suppose thats fine. Dads gonna be prettttty mad, isnt he?”
Its fair though. She left with someone that did such bad and horriable things.
“Might wanna go before she finds us.”
Jace looks around and nods, taking Heather’s hand.
“I’ll take you to a cute little cafe later yeah? You like birds? Theres a cute place back in london that has budgies all over the place.” He asks, laughing nervously as he stands to leave.
“I think he should have told you personally, because otherwise there was no way for you to know miss seamstress.” He didnt add that there was a lot more to it, and that stan and Tristan needed to talk.

A new text buzzes softly, Reading only [heather? Hey you ok?] its from jace.
