their worlds growing, expanding into different galaxies, while yours is shrinking into a single speck of dust
fear of missing out (excerpts)
feels like you're a character in this book that everybody around you is writing
your future all planned out by everyone except you (excerpts)
Surrounded by all that art Yet I am most fascinated By the one that is holding my hand
take me to museums (excerpts)
I want to see you naked, flawed and all I want to zoom in on all the holes and cracks And discover what lies beneath the surface The monster that is always fighting for its way out The creature feared by all that came before me The animal that you're trying so hard to keep caged inside I want to see you naked, flawed and all Strip of all the masks and cloaks you wear as disguise Show me your insecurities, fears and doubts I'm okay with drowning from the waterfalls pouring down your eyes But after all this, please let me show you That through all these flaws, are the galaxies you didn't know were inside of you I want to see you naked, flawed and all Sweetheart, let me love you for all that you are You don't have to be afraid anymore, I'm here It's time to turn the lights on.
Lights on or lights off? (excerpts)
Afraid that the bite marks On my neck Would stay longer Than the one Who left them there
- I used to be well behaved (excerpts)
whatever it is, whatever hard edges there are, i hope it gets softer. i hope you can find it within yourself to forgive the mistakes youâve made. i hope your days feel like they did when you were younger. when it was easier to wake up in the mornings. when you didnât know what grief was yet. when the birds reminded you of miracle. Â thereâs someone out there in the world who is rooting you on. youâre gonna do incredible things. no matter the failures. no matter the darkness. there will always be light. always.Â
I wrote poems For you With words You'll never Get to read
- and I wish you well
You are the ocean I may paint these walls a different color I may opt from ever eating donuts again My nose receptors may grow familiar with your scent I may do everything to forget But just like the river No matter how far you are Or how many stones I must pass A part of me will always always end up with you always
a draft
Something lovely I remember? Pressed flowers between a water-stained paperback. From two years and seventeen days ago. A ticket to the stars. And it rained. We sat there anyways. Lit the night a different kind of fire. A jellyfish printed sundress with thin ribbon straps. Ice cream cones dripping to my elbow. I came home a pocket of seashells that whisper things I canât say out loud. A dusty library. Upside-down books and bent heads. Maps, plans, a side-fishtail braid, and slipping glasses. Empty cups of coffee stacked in pyramids while we wrote imaginary postcard letters. A girl. A boy. Me and You. Yes, I remember.

I let the darkness swallow me whole
Iâm a little less me than I was. The poem pretends to be me but it isnât right.[âŠ] I write poems to remember who I wasnât but who I could have been:

Go, because you want to. Because wanting to leave is enough.

I believe in intention and I believe in work. I believe in waking up in the middle of the night and packing our bags and leaving our worst selves for our better ones.

You get on a train, you disappear. You write your name on the window, you disappear. There are places like this everywhere, places you enter as a young girl, from which you never return.
Averno by Louise Gluck (via 7-weeks)
Everywhere I look is a poem in the making If only I ever find the right words to start
What cities did they ruin? All the ones I returned to in my sleep. And the skyâs hunger? It devoured every moon the oceans trusted. And to the hearts that waited, what would you say? To the hearts Iâd like to say: soon, youâll write only to the ones who remember to come back to you. Soon, love will happen like a kingdom and there will be downfall. There will be no undoing. And to the ones with splinters in their dreams? Youâll be the place the light goes to forget the dark. Youâll be the place where poetry sounds like rain and everyone stays anyway.
