Painting my way through RotE summer, here's a more pleasant scene from Royal Assassin of Fitz & Nighteyes playing.

I'm overcoming my fear of documenting the ugly stages, so read more if you want to see some progress pics.

First thing's first, here was my reference picture, which I lack credit for, but I had to share because look at that goofy goober.

Started with a pencil sketch for this one, since I wanted to make sure Nighteyes fit in the frame.

Getting the base in place. A tip I learned is to go warm when painting your first layer for living things. It gives them a lifelike glow.

More details, hitting peak ugly phase here.

I try to use a very limited palatte to keep things unified. This one was painted with Pyrrol Red (Daniel Smith), Hansa Yellow Medium (Daniel Smith), Indigo (Holbein Irodori) and Permanent White.

Piece is finally coming together, more fine brush details and gave it a bit of a background

Added a warm yellow glow, some darker shadows, and the final details.

Finished Assassin's Quest, on to Ship of Magic!

I think what I'll miss most is how excited Fitz gets about tying his hair up in a warrior's tail. Like that boy loves his ponytail. Loves it so much he journals about it. A lot.

An art dump is coming up, I've been busy and introspective. I will be reentering society soon.

I've been reading through the Farseer Trilogy and am loving every moment of it (thanks @rhibbet for recommending!)

Here's my take on Fitz in Royal Assassin, high as fuck, covered in blood, focused on vengeance with a myopic fervor beyond my comprehension. I like him a lot.

The same can be said of any technological development. Our parents and grandparents fretted greatly about how "Kids these days have never known a world without the internet"

I am staunchly against AI use personally, but it's important to remember that humans are still humans through it all, even with technology evolving around us.
