I’d like to get people’s input on a small dilemma I’ve been thinking about off and on.
There’s a post I’m planning to write (it won’t be coming for a while, though, because responding to the posts and messages I’ve mentioned before takes priority), and I’m not sure where to post it. By that, I mean, should I post it here on Tumblr, or on my more formal WordPress blog? I haven’t written anything on WordPress in a long time, but that’s because none of the stuff I was writing really felt like it was at the level of thoroughness that I’m wanting to try to maintain for that blog. This piece will be.
The thing is, though, that, at least in part because I don’t regularly or frequently publish content on that blog, I don’t think anyone’s really reading or following it. So if I post it there, it won’t have an audience. In contrast, because I’ve been using Tumblr regularly, I actually have a little bit of an audience here for what I write. I don’t want to simply get rid of my WordPress blog, as it’s much easier to organize in the way that I want to use it than Tumblr is.
I could link to the piece here on Tumblr, like I’ve done before, but that’s less likely to encourage discussion and/or feedback, because anyone on Tumblr who wants to do so has to follow a link to WordPress and use that site to make a comment. I mean, it’s not like it’s difficult or time consuming to do that, but I know that many people have some resistance to it anyways.
–On this note, I want to say thank you so much to @excaliburzero and anyone else who has taken the time and made the effort to read any of the stuff I’ve written on WordPress. I really appreciate it! ^___^–
Since this is going to be a one-off thing (AKA it’s not like I’m going to be creating a bunch of content for my WordPress blog from now on, at least not for the foreseeable future), what I’m thinking of doing is posting it in full both here and on WordPress.
As people who follow me here on Tumblr, if you’re willing to take the time, I’d like to hear your thoughts on this. Should I post it only on WordPress, because the kind of thorough piece this will be is precisely what I created that blog for? Should I post it both here and there, for the sake of people seeing it, and to encourage discussion and feedback? Should I only post it here? Something else?
