Another recommendation was for me to make a taxonomy for the creatures. This would be a cryptozoology of sorts. Some There are some ides that I should also make environments, but I’ll see if I have enough time for all these things.
Here are some on my ideas for the taxonomy and a few sketches of the creatures.
Evolved to look fluffy and cute, like a baby animal in order to lure their prey closer then using their extremely poisonous snake-tails to incapacitate them.
Brightly coloured feathers and scales are the only indicators as to how poisonous they are.
these creatures are swamp dwellers and fast swimmers.Confusing their prey by imitating duck calls.Their jaws can unhinge to swallow their prey whole.
I have more notes for different creatures, nothing truly complete really - for some I only have tentative names-, but I’ll put them down.
1. Short-necked jibber (Denique cervicis Flatus)
-this species evolved to look fluffy, cute, like a baby animal, this is because they have the most poisonous snake-tails – they hunt by luring their prey by looking like prey, their bright colours are the only things alerting other animals how poisonous they are
2. Short-necked putter (Denique cervicis Putter)
3. Winged blackjay (alatum blackjay)
-omnivore, hunter of small birds and insect-eater, uses it’s long tail for better vision as well as a trap, venomous,
4. Short-tailed crane-neck (caudata brevi, gruis collum)
5. Horned Killi (corniger killi)
-often disguises itself as a housecat, eats tropical fish, good swimmer
6. Crested Long-tail (Cristatis, longa cauda)
-uses it’s crest at a distraction to strike with its tail, strangler
7. Long-tailed humming bird (diu albicilla Hummingbird)
-bird part feeds on nectar while snake part feeds on small mammals and birds.
8. Duck-beaked blubber (Duck billed ignivomo)
-these creatures are swamp dwellers and fast swimmers, they confuse their prey by looking and sounding like ducks, imitating duck calls. Their jaws can unhinge like snake’s, they swallow their prey whole.
-mimics a plant, eats small insects and birds, doesn’t have to feed often, digests food in its enormous stomach for weeks.
-desert dweller, moves surprisingly swiftly over sand, like a scorpion it strikes out with its tail, but not to poison, it strikes to trap, then it uses its poisonous spit to incapacitate its prey, nocturnal, mating rituals occur during full moons
As for the environment I’m thinking about using plaster to make small boulders or something, but this really depends on the space we’ll be using since some of these things could be gathered form nature really.
