Post-finale random [personal] headcanons about our MPUB family:
This is all just my random thoughts [and possible fanfic prompts I may or may not do one day but please anyone else out there feel free to do the lord’s work and write fic!] so it’s all in good fun! The show already did its [amazing] job by giving us a happy ending so as a fan, I’m gonna imagine the following…
The Mystic Pop Up Bar continues to do what it does best: help heal people with grudges or burdens they have. the exception being, of course, that Weol Ju is more than willing to lend an ear [or a shoulder to lean on].
Not to say that she still doesn’t have a temper [because sometimes people suck… and sometimes her boys… SOMETIMES HER BOYS, specifically her husband…], but having the people she loves around has helped soften her edges again.
Yes, I said husband aka Manager Gwi/Yi Hon… Not like they needed an official ceremony if their being together was technically their relationship being approved by the Gods BUT STILL.
Gwi asked Samsin to feel Weol Ju out to see if she wanted a ceremony, but Weol Ju is just so utterly happy to be given a chance with the loves of her life [Gwi and Kang Bae] that she doesn’t need a wedding/ceremony to know how blessed she is.
Gwi, the little shit, gives her a small ceremony anyway. Because he loves her and he feels she deserves one and he was more than happy to recruit both Samsin and Kang Bae to surprise Weol Ju with one!
Weol Ju, of course, affectionately smacks Gwi but with happy tears in her eyes.
Kang Bae totally cries happy tears as he stands by his dad’s side as his best man.
Yeo Rin eventually discovers the truth about MPUB and Kang Bae’s family. At first, she doesn’t believe it, but after having spent a lot more time hanging out with Kang Bae as he hangs out more and more with Weol Ju and Gwi, she begins to come around to the truth.
Especially after one particular bad evil spirit accidentally hurts her friend and while trying to chase him down, she runs into Gwi [who, yes, he occasionally helps out the Afterlife Police] and both of them actually work well together as a badass evil spirit fighting duo!
And since then, Yeo Rin and Gwi sometimes go off and catch evil spirits together.
Weol Ju and Kang Bae worry about their little team-up, more or less because they don’t want them [especially Yeo Rin, who is still mortal] getting hurt. But Yeo Rin and Gwi realized that because know how precious they are to Weol Ju and Kang Bae, they’ll make sure to watch each other’s backs so that they can return home to their loved ones.
Plus goodness knows Gwi is more afraid of his wife kicking his ass if he plays a part in breaking his son’s heart for not protecting Yeo Rin.
Also okay so maybe he’s grown to care for Yeo Rin like a daughter…
God of the Underworld hasn’t told them yet, but when Yeo Rin’s earthly time is up, She plans on recruiting her [the Cinnabar] for the Afterlife Police Force and partnering her up with her father-in-law Gwi.
Kang Bae, a total mama’s boy let’s be real here, helps Weol Ju run the MPUB more and more as the years go on. Eventually, it fades from being a pop up and becomes an actually established bar. Kang Bae becomes a bartender and co-owner of The Mystic. He helps serve drinks and listens to people’s problems, helping soothe their troubled souls. What he once considers as a curse, a burden, he now feels most fulfilled by his compassion to help others and lend an ear.
Kang Bae, after all, takes after his mother like that.
