Hey can you shut up actually? No one is saying age-gap relationships aren't consensual, or that adult women aren't capable of consenting relationships with older men. What we are saying is:

Relationships w/ an age difference typically come with a power imbalance in favor of the older partner

Men know this and culturally have always taken advantage of this

A forty-something-year-old dating a younger woman is not automatically creepy.

A forty-something-year-old who has a dating history consistently consisting of only women under 25 is in fact automatically creepy. Why is the age difference so important to him? Why is having a younger, less mature, less experienced partner so important to the point he prioritizes it above all else?

The fact this is an enormously famous and powerful celebrity (whose romantic partners will automatically have much less social, professional, and financial capital than him, no matter their age) makes this 20x creepier actually.

No one said anything about his partners' choices or ability to consent. Literally the only person's behavior in question here is the older man's. That response is classic deflection.

Refusing to examine this behavior in celebrities and powerful men is how we got shitty predatory hollywood culture in the first place. So maybe shut up.

For the person commenting on not taking a pay cut, he HAD to change his lifestyle to be able to afford to pay his employees a living wage. He talked to accountants and they helped him break the numbers down based on data about the cost of living and various factors about the commute, housing issues, etc. All inspired by his best friend going nearly into debt over medical costs meanwhile he had several houses, a jet, and drank champagne daily.

He sold stock, houses, and changed his spending and as a result, his employees were overall happier and the way they worked improved. They all bought more shit and had more kids and did all the consumption people want for us while also enjoying their work and their boss enough to band together and buy him a fucking Tesla as a thank you.

And you know what he realized after taking his pay cut? He didn’t need the champagne or the girls or the “lifestyle” of being a billionaire. He feels fulfilled in his work and with the people he’s surrounded himself with and he feels that he’s made a step in the right direction that other businessmen and billionaires should follow.

I asked her how much she thought it would cost her to make one then. So she then says - I’ve been thinking, I think I’d rather pay you the £35. It’s too complicated to make one for myself, it wouldn’t be as well made and it would cost me a hell of a lot more than £35. When you pay for a hand crafted item, you pay not only for the material used, but also: - knowledge - experience - tools - services - time - enthusiasm Only by knowing all the elements necessary for the production of a certain item can you estimate the actual cost.

First off: there are no states that are mostly cities. If you add the population of NYC (the biggest US city) to the next five biggest cities in New York, that only makes up half of the state’s total population. And cities are not monoliths; everyone doesn’t vote the same.

The Electoral College is not about fairness; in fact, it gives disproportionate representation to electoral power to the states with the lowest populations. When you take into account the number of electoral votes and the population for each state, a person’s vote is worth more or less based on the state they live in. For example: the vote of a person in Wyoming is worth the most, 3x the average American. On the other hand, the votes of Texans are worth the least. Every vote in the US is not worth the same.

As for ignoring certain states, that’s exactly what happens under the Electoral College. This is a map of the general election campaign events for the 2020 presidential election. The two presidential candidates held over 200 events, visiting just 17 states and ignoring 33 (and the District of Columbia). 

The current Electoral College system ensures that 11-12 battleground or swing states hold most, if not all of the electoral power. Former Wisconsin Governor and one-time presidential candidate said the quiet part out loud: “The nation as a whole is not going to elect the next president, 12 states are.”

It should not be controversial to say that every vote in the United States should be worth the same and that election results should reflect the will of the people. The Electoral college is undemocratic, antiquated, and based in racism; it should be abolished.

Correction:  Rosa Parks was not only a trained activist, she and her activist buddies were specifically trying to recreate an incident that had happened earlier.

You see, the actual, spontaneous, unplanned incident was done nine months earlier by a black girl named Claudette Colvin.  She was in the section designated for black people, however, the front became crowded and she was told to move to make way for a white woman (who was actually fine with standing as it turns out, to show how adamantly racist the bus driver was).  She refused and was arrested.

Rosa Parks was a secretary at one of many chapters of NAACP and they had seen the incident but they had multiple reasons for not wanting to publicize it when it happened.  One was that Claudette was a minor.  Another possibility is that Claudette had some marks on her past that could have been considered questionable or immoral and they wanted someone that white people couldn’t pick apart as a villain or a thug for when it happened.

So they staged the incident all over again with Rosa Parks as the victim and when it played out just like they thought, they slammed it with as much attention and media as they could to publicize it.

I remember the first time I read about her, she was described as tired. The next time, it was “she wasn’t physically tired. She was tired of giving up her position as a person to a man who probably didn’t work as hard as she did that day.” There was never anything about Claudette Colvin, which is horrible.
