me:
you: Me Stark, I don’t feel so good
me, an intellectual: my battery is low and it’s getting dark
With the tragic demise of the opportunity rover I have a sudden urge for Pixar to create a short film called Oppy depicting his adventures on Mars to the soundtrack of ‘what a wonderful world’
Like guys I NEED this
the opportunity rover’s last words keep bringing back emily dickinson’s: “I must go in, for the fog is rising.” like just try to tell me that “my battery is low and it’s getting dark” isn’t the robot version of that. it makes my heart hurt
happy valentine’s day,, i made this to cope
that felt like a punch in the chest, tbh
NASA’s final transmission to Opportunity was Billie Holiday’s “I’ll Be Seeing You”
#ThanksOppy
think I’m better off here all alone tonight
thank you, opportunity
I love everything about this.
teacher: here’s ur topic me: oh jeez i hate that topic teacher: pick your own topic me: oh jeez im not a decision maker
“My battery is low and it’s getting dark.” is the same energy as “I don’t want to go, I don’t feel so good.”
I met a really clever reader the other day, and this is what’s wonderful about books; she said to me, I really know what Neville looks like.’ And I said ‘Describe Neville for me.’ And she said, `Well, he’s short and he’s black, and he’s got dreadlocks.’ Now, to me, Neville’s short and plump and blond, but that’s what’s great about books. You know, she’s just seeing something different. People bring their own imagination to it. They have to collaborate with the author on creating the world.
JK Rowling (via simplypotterheads)
I had to draw this. I can’t draw dreadlocks.

Ok so first of all that drawing of Neville and Trevor is completely freaking adorable, but that quote of JK’s is super handy to have too. Next time someone freaks out about black Hermione or desi Harry or any of the other amazing POC character canons out there, you can just be like “well JK is down with it so wtf is your problem oh wait I know what it is”

“A LETTER TO EVERY OLDER SIBLING OUT THERE: i. You don’t have to be perfect the first time. Or the next. Or the time after that. There are a million ways to fail at what you do. There will always be a reason why they still look up to you. ii. Stop looking at your hands like they are made of papier-mâché. They will not melt just because you haven’t found the right way to keep yourself up on top of supporting your siblings too. It is enough to marvel at the beauty of how every piece of you holds everything together to make your family bigger. iii. Most rough days will evaporate. You might not even catch a glimpse of them scattering through the air. Sisters and brothers have a way of licking wounds without ever looking at them. Remember to acknowledge it every now and then. Sometimes the bleeding stops where the pain chooses to stay. iv. Proximity will always be taken for granted. You will miss them when they are one delayed flight away and not reachable through a hall separating bedroom doors. Indulge in shared seconds now when you can. v. What you do is important. Who you are matters. Just as much as parents and pets and life partners and social circles and a career and a future. You are essential to the equation for a fuller definition of their happiness. Don’t forget you exist for more than the sandbox years when they were just another hog to the toys. Or fight to pick. Or lesson to teach. Or wisdom to learn. Or person to drive. Or confidant to trust. Or kid to love. They are with you for the long run. Keep them with you always.”
