let me explain for those with screenreaders, those that didn't watch it, or if you just want to read, what I did in the video (there isn't sound. or at least there shouldn't be):
in the old version of tumblr, quick reblogging took 1.7 seconds.
in the new version, it takes 1.2 seconds* (consistently, though it doesn't feel that way).
so, the new version is quicker....?
but!!!!!!!
if you measure just from when the bubbles start to appear, then the old version takes 0.3 seconds, and the new version takes 0.7.
so!! The bubbles take more time to expand. Why?
well, after looking at both videos, there are more frames in the new version than the old one.
in the old one, it's just sorta a silent pause until the bubbles come around. there are 2 frames of them moving to their spots, and then they just expand.
in the new one, when it registers that you are trying to quick reblog (doing math, 0.5 seconds) transparent bubbles come from the reblog button and expand to match where they should be.
so old moves then expands, and new expands while moving. Somehow, the new version takes longer. I assume for cooler looking graphics.
In conclusion: they did change it, and although it does take a shorter amount of time*, there is reason why it feels like it takes longer
