“Yes it is,” Gianna whispered, tilting her head to look over at him. “It’s my fault because I let you think that was okay, because I–” she didn’t want to say it, didn’t want to admit that while she loved Theo, she definitely was feeling some sort of affection towards Dante.
“I let you think it was okay,” Gianna repeated, looking back down at her legs.
“no, i came to that conclusion on my own,” he admits. dante turns his whole body towards her, because his neck hurts a bit and he’s still tipsy and he wants to be able to see her better and he’s still hopelessly crushing on her. god, he needs to get his shit in check.
“but it’s not, because you’re dating one of my best friends and it’s not a chill thing to kiss your best friend’s girlfriend while they’re still dating.”
“Dante–” she couldn’t get a word in, and while she wanted to protest and tell him that everything was alright, Gianna knew he was speaking the truth. She was dating Theo, and he shouldn’t have kissed her. But that didn’t mean she didn’t like it, even just a little bit. But she was doing her best to keep that a secret.
“It’s okay,” she said softly, moving to sit on the edge of the bed next to Dante. She sighed, looking down. “I shouldn’t have given you reason to think that was a good idea. It’s my fault.” Classic Gianna. Always taking the blame for things that weren’t her fault.
“gianna, it’s not your fault,” he tells her, seriously, turning his head as she moves to sit next to him. he wants to lean into her, wants to comfort her, but doesn’t, for the simple fact that if he does, he’s not entirely sure he won’t stop himself this time. just being in the room alone with her is kind of messing him up.
it’s almost magnetic. dante takes a deep breath to center himself. “i’m the one who kissed you.”
Gianna froze at the idea of Dante kissing her. She loved Theo, more than anything in the entire world, but she always felt like there was something he was hiding, like he’d never give his whole self to her. With Dante, however, Gianna was never in doubt of how he felt for her. And maybe, she felt the same way.
So when he leaned in to kiss her, Gianna found herself not protesting right away, allowing him to kiss her softly before pulling back slightly. “Dante–”
when gianna pulled back, guilt flushed through dante’s whole body in a second, a reaction he’s never been used to, barely ever felt. it has him opening his eyes, sitting up on her bed. “shit. sorry. i know you’re dating theo. i know i’m too drunk for this.”
he knows how awkward it’ll be in the wait for their postmates to get here so he can dash back to the alpha house, police be damned. he doesn’t want to be here, not after he’d just broken the oldest rule in the damn book: don’t kiss your best friend’s girlfriend. but he doesn’t get up, instead just moving closer to the edge of the bed to create distance between them.
Gianna chuckled, shaking her head as she headed into her closet. Quickly, she changed from her outfit into a pair of leggings and a Zeta tee shirt, moving to sit on her bed once she was done. “I’m excited for a nice pile of guac,” she smirked, placing her order before moving her laptop to the side and laying down next to Dante. “How drunk are you?” she whispered.
“sober enough to know that kissing you right now would be a very bad idea,” he admits, quietly. he knows she knows that he likes her, thinks that maybe she likes him back? he knows that theo would kill him if he ever found out about the true nature of their relationship. dante turns on his side so that he’s facing her. “but drunk enough not to really care.”
and then he leans in, softly touching his lips to hers.
“Yeah, he does,” Gianna would chuckle, a smirk on her face as she lead him into the house and up to her room. She was thankful that the house was mostly empty at this point; she didn’t want to deal with questions. “I know for a fact that Chipotle is on Postmates,” she smirked, sitting him down on her bed and grabbing her laptop. “Put in your order.”
“thank mother mary for postmates,” he says, as he collapses on her bed and takes the offered laptop. he puts in his order, smiles at her, and then hands her the laptop back. “i’m so excited to have some fuckin’ frijoles, gee. it’s gonna be so good.”
The problem wasn’t that Aubrey was opposed to treating herself, or having nicely manicured nails. The problem was that she didn’t like to waste her time, and she honestly wasn’t sure how much she and Dante would have to talk about. But he was just sitting there looking sad, tapping away on his phone, and her new book was boring. “Let’s go get manicures.” Aubrey suggested before she could change her mind, “I’m not watching reality tv with you, but I wouldn’t mind a movie.”
@exposedito
“did i tell you that you were going to cave to my offer? because i feel like i should be able to say ‘i told you so’ right now,” dante says, when he hears aubrey’s offer. he looks up from his phone and beams at her, mood already changing like a snap. “we can probably arrange that, though. if they won’t let us put it on the tv at the salon, i’ll bring my laptop.”
“Theo would be happy I’m taking care of his best friend,” she smirked at him, playfully shoving him as she made her way to the house. Parking in her spot, she got out of the car and waited for Dante. “We can order food if you want.”
“theo’s got such a good girlfriend,” he tells her, smiling like a big dope. god, but he likes her so much. he gets out of the car when they arrive, slowed by the fact that he’s drunk and his hands aren’t responding in the right amount of time. “food sounds so good, dude. do you think chipotle is on postmates?”
“You can sleep in my bed,” Gianna explained as she pulled out of her spot, beginning to drive back to the Zeta house. “We don’t need you getting into more trouble, Dante.”
“ooh, isn’t theo gonna be be mad?” listen. sober dante? best friends with theo. drunk dante? super jealous of theo. he just really likes gianna, and he’s really bummed that she’s with theo instead of him. he has a lot of feelings. “but fine if you say so.”
“Silencio,” Gianna chuckled, looping her arm with his and leading him out to her car. Once they were in, she buckled up and turned on the engine. “I’m taking you back to the Zeta house, I’m pretty sure the cops are still at ASP.”
he buckled in once they were in the car, more out of reflex than conscious thought. “but my houseeeee,” he drawled, leaning towards her. “i pay rent, i feel like they should let me in so i can sleep.”
“Multiple times, yes,” Gianna smirked, handing him the things that the police had taken when he was arrested. “That’s not very nice, Dante,” she chuckled, blushing slightly. “Come on, I’m parked in 10 minute parking.”
“i’m not sober enough to watch my mouth, so don’t let me get near theo,” he tells her, taking his stuff from her and shrugging his jacket back on. that done, he holds out his arm so she can loop hers through it. “i’d cause way too much trouble for mi amigos.”
he’d been arrested after the asp party. it wasn’t a fun time, and he’d been worried the entire time that they’d look up his name and find out that he’s here on a visa.
but before the detectives would let him go, they had a few questions. (under the cut.)
"are you a member of alpha sigma phi?"
“yeah. i’m the social chairman. it’s a small position -- i’m usually in charge of updating the instagram page when we have university-sponsored events or parties. i’m careful about making sure that everyone in the pictures we upload with alcohol in them are above age, though.”
"how did you hear about this party?"
“like i said, i’m the social chairman. its my job to know what’s going on at all times. and kendall posted about it on their insta story.”
"do you know who owns the house?"
“i’m not sure who’s name is on the lease. i think maybe jesse’s? i mean, we all pay rent, so it’s not like jesse’s paying for the whole house by himself.”
“have you been drinking?”
“i know it’s incriminating to admit it, but yeah. i live here. i’m under ‘adult supervision.’ i mean, i’m twenty anyways, so does it really matter? i thought that it was legal to drink in your own home if you were underage and had supervision.”
"how much alcohol did you consume?"
“i don’t know, dude. it’s a college party, everyone’s gonna end up losing count and getting smashed. what did i blow when you did the breathalyzer?”
"was there anything suspicious going on that you saw?"
“is it bad to say that there’s always something suspicious going on at a frat party? i mean, i heard that candice couldn’t find jesse for like an hour, but that’s because jesse fucking lives in the house too. he probably went to his room to take a nap or something. maybe he died? that was a joke, sorry. anyways, no. i didn’t see anything suspicious until you guys showed up.”
Gianna was worried about Dante, and while she knew that maybe she shouldn’t have been the one to bail him out, she decided to do so anyway. Just don’t tell Theo. After signing the right papers and paying the money, they let her back and unlocked Dante’s cell. “Let’s go, loser.”
“have i told you that you’re an angel?” he asks her, once the officer has let him go up to her. truly, he’s blessed with a good group of friends. “i mean, you suck for dating a boy who doesn’t deserve you, but you’re an angel.”
