Equilibrium of Form

Matteo Cirenei was born in Schio in 1965 and has been living in Milan since 1967, where he obtained his Degree in Architecture at the Polytechnic Institute of Engineering and Architecture.

The evolution of this research leads, at the end of the first decade of the millennium, in an aesthetic approach that eliminates the overall vision of the building, re-creates an equilibrium of form in a new composition that comes from the combination of architectural elements and games of light and shade, plastic acts purely figurative. Metaphysical visions, abstractions which arise from the details of buildings designed by architectural masters: a glance full of admiration for the object of study of the past year s at the Faculty of Architecture of Milan, which now, through the photographic medium, generate new visual arrays.

Concrete Box Residence in Spain

Pitch House by Iñaqui Carnicero is located in Los Peñascales – “rocky area” in Spanish – on a slope with many outcrops and oriented to the south. The building, however, does not relate to them, but rather turns its back to the immediate surroundings, interacting with the distant Pardo forest and with Madrid´s skyline. While the design denies the abrupt topography of the site and the immediate context, the structure delicately leans on the existing rocks with a large horizontal plane that defines the footprint of the building. Once this datum has been established, the house is organized in two independent units. Car parking and other services are located underneath, and the living areas are put above in a single volume. Relating to the “footprint plane,” the size, shape, and placement of this hermetic, horizontal prism provides for the rest of the program: bedrooms, the main bathroom, study rooms, and a little toilet. In this piano mobile, where the daily life goes on, the floor is covered with white calcareous stone. A unique bay window located 1,40 meters from the floor trims the skyline of the landscape and uniformly illuminates the concrete ceiling.

Charlotte Keates’s “Exploiting Perspectives: A Harmony In Chaos” at Arusha Gallery.

Brand new, large scale paintings by artist Charlotte Keates (Don’t miss her Instagram) for her solo show entitled “Exploiting Perspectives: A Harmony In Chaos” opening on June 2nd, 2016 at Arusha Gallery in Edinburgh, England.

“Exploiting Perspectives: A Harmony in Chaos” explores the idea of a lived-in space. It fuses both memory and imagination to creating a dream-like world. Keates is aiming to push the boundaries of perceived space through the use of incongruous spatial constructions, whilst building a dialogue between interior with exterior in a convincing yet improbable manner.

The show will be on display until the 26th of June, 2016.
