     Nina appears excited and almost in awe of the tricks he’s able to perform with his speed. It must be magic, for an object to appear one place one second but suddenly somewhere else another could only be thus. After all, Nina can’t see time slow for him or him run. “Magia! Jeszcze raz! er-- a.. again!” Her English isn’t very good, though she’s making more of an effort now. “Stamtąd możesz mnie tam też?” There’s a pause as she tries to translate within her mind. “Um-- me move zere to zere too?”

     “Stop pacing.” Wanda nearly commands her brother, face scrunching u as her book’s pages turn back and forth with the wind created from his movement. For the first time in a long time her mind is clear, focus something coming more naturally to her though in this present moment it alludes her. “Peter!” Her tone is harsher now, until she finally sends a red bolt toward him making him lose his balance and fall to the ground-- not painfully, but with enough force to make her point. “That is better.”

THAT drew one of Peter’s empathetic smiles, nodding a little as he studied her. “I know how that feels. When I first developed my ability, I couldn’t control it. I took in an unstable one, and I… I lost control and could have hurt a lot of people. If I didn’t have help, I might have. I was really hard on myself for it… but now I’ve learned to control it.”

It felt good, having someone to talk to. Immediately, he could see the merit of this place. “I’d love to be shown around, and I’ll definitely stay. I saw… I saw what happened recently. It’s really cool to see you guys rebuilding. Living normal lives. I tried to do that, in my time but… it hasn’t been easy.”

     This man’s power was impressive in its own right and Jean found an innocent  curiosity forming within her as she began to lead him toward the mansion. She held intense powers yet they held little to his ability of true empathic mimicry when one considered the implications. “It’s always easier with friends. I don’t know what I would have been if it hadn’t been for the Professor finding me when he did.” And this was true for Jean had been in a dark place following the death of her childhood friend, her abilities overwhelming her. It had been the Professor who had shown her the light-- the hope to be able to control her powers. 

     What happened recently was something Jean would rather forget. She had bore witness to the end of the world even if their team had prevented as much. And now? Some feared them more while others embraced mutants further. It was a strange contrast. “We adapt, not just us but everyone. Resilience is a shared trait of everyone on Earth.” There’s a pause as they reach the door and Jean opens it, using her powers to pull her books she had left on a chair near the window to her through the air. “The Professor wants to turn this place into a real campus, a university too not just for us but everyone.” And despite everything else, Jean embraced the Professor’s hope in this endeavor.

“I guess you’re right. I’m not exactly new to this anyways.” It had been a few years now, with his ability. He was in pretty good standing, compared to most. “I can come back another day, if he’s out.” Peter wasn’t sure who the professor was, just yet, but he had a pretty good feeling he ran the place. Xavier, he guessed. Like the name on the plaque.

Turning to watch the kids scramble by, he smiled. It was easy to see that this was a happy place, a safe place for kids to be themselves. He only wished the world could be as welcoming. “That’s fantastic. Really, it is.” He looked up at Jean, feeling at ease. “Your ability, it’s pretty strong. I know a guy who can do something similar but not as good as you.”

     “No, I guess you’re not.” Jean agreed before turning slightly to the side and pointing toward the large mansion. “You don’t need to leave. There’s plenty of people you can speak with, me included. The Professor doesn’t mind. In fact, he invites you to stay the night in a guest room, he will be able to meet with you in the morning.” Jean relays with a slight laugh. “He just told me as much.” Sometimes it came in handy being telepathic. “Would you like me to show you around?”

     The world’s view on mutants had been.. complicated. It had been, Jean imagined, better than before since what Mystique had done, though still wrought with tensions behind polite smiles. Still it allowed Jean to live a good life, and now in light of recent events people were beginning to see new light. It had been mutants who had saved the world, after all. But it had also been a mutant to threaten it. But only time would tell what would happen. “Thanks. It hasn’t always been easy to deal with, but I’ve come a long way since coming here.”
