DMC/Subject G

Does anybody remember back in December when the 20th anniversary box set dropped along with a short-lived bit of “lore” involving an outfit called the Department of Musical Corrections (DMC)? In a nutshell, they wanted to destroy 'Subject G’ (i.e. Gorillaz) and control the population through bland music, or some such, and their proposals included to imprisoning and possessing Russ with a spirit of the DMC’s choosing, imprisoning and replacing Noodle and/or Murdoc with robot clones, and thus steering the band towards destruction.

I mean ... yeah, probably not, but I kind of like the idea that this is what they’re doing with the story this phase. Partly because I’d rather see the Murdoc who tried to save his bandmates in The Lost Chord actually, like, grow a little and move forward instead of hitting ye old reset button back to "nasty old pickle treats everybody around him like crap, again.” Also partly because it has some potential as a story, especially if that line about how the future shown in the video shouldn’t have happened is a clue, not just a quip.
