hey everybody. I did wake up early, but then I went and napped for an hour, so after-work posting it is. drafted this out of sheer compulsion yesterday. not even going to bother with a summary for this. just trust in me and enjoy my hanzawa-ogasawara-tashiro stylings.

“He acts spoiled? With you?”
“Yeah,” Ogasawara said, unthinking. Like an acknowledgement, Tashiro hummed beside him. Breezily, he continued, “He’s so annoying. Wailing on me like that, causing all that trouble for your club…”
Tashiro pointed out, “I won the candy back, though.”
“Doesn’t erase all the times I lost,” Ogasawara griped, and then he stopped to think, because it kind of did.
The sheer nerve and talent it took, to go up against Hanzawa Masato when he was like that, and win—it wasn’t nothing. Tashiro Gonzaburou, Ogasawara reflected, was really a special kind of guy.
He wasn’t really sure why he was here, but maybe this was part of the reason. He’d hung around with Masaomi and Masato—who he’s just learned were related, which made a hell of a lot of sense when you stopped to think about anything, like their names or the way they liked to tease people—during the festival, and once they’d split up Ogasawara had been about to head home and… then he’d doubled back. Tashiro, two-tone hair recognizable even from afar, was out on the field, snapping pictures. He’d been separated from the lanky, light-haired kid Ogasawara had spotted earlier, but he didn’t seem all too bothered.
He didn’t seem surprised to see Ogasawara, either. Instead he’d greeted him like they’d just passed each other in the hallway, like he was still every bit the senpai he wasn’t, and from there it was just natural to start a conversation.
When he’d asked about his friend, Tashiro explained, “He got roped into helping someone else.” Privately, Ogasawara had thought that the kid seemed like the type to get easily conned.
Tashiro didn’t ask about where Ogasawara’s friends had gone. Maybe he didn’t need to. He’d just asked, “You guys had fun?”
Ogasawara had said, “Yeah, tons.” He’d grinned at Tashiro. “Especially once you pulled that guy away from the ping pong tables.”
Tashiro had smiled. “He really doesn’t like to go easy on people, does he?”
“Seriously,” Ogasawara had agreed, “he doesn’t hold back. That guy always loves to act spoiled, he’s such a pain…”
And Tashiro had paused, then. It took a bit for Ogasawara to notice. But now that he had, he couldn’t look away from it, because Tashiro, who’d been moving with an unpretentious ease the whole day, was saying, “Ha, that’s true…” even though he couldn’t wipe the longing from his face.
Ogasawara swallowed back whatever he’d meant to say. But even after thinking through it a second time, he wasn't sure what to do. “Probably he doesn’t whine as much to you because he wants to maintain his image,” he said, which was probably a ruthless betrayal of that image. “It’s a little stupid.” Only a little, because Ogasawara was just now realizing how easy it was to want to make your kouhai happy.
Tashiro shook his head. Ogasawara wondered if maybe he thought it was a lot stupid, but then Tashiro said, “Hanzawa-senpai’s kind of an idiot sometimes.”
This, at least, he didn’t have to think too hard about. “He really is.”
something i noticed from the manga as an akaashi-lover who needs to see every panel he’s in:
this might have been pointed out before, but i started noticing kageyama and akaashi’s relationship throughout the series. of course there’s that moment after hinata and kags perfect their new freak quick and when bokuto goes “hey, can we do that?”, akaashi basically shuts it down: “no, I’m not skilled enough, so we should never try that.” this moment not only serves to make kags look like a total prodigy (which he is) but also reveals something about akaashi - he’s very sober and candid about the limits of his abilities - making him similar to tsukki in a way.
that’s why this moment during fukurodani vs. mujinazaka is sooo satisfying and cute to me because akaashi brings up his past inferiority complex of kageyama and knows that instead of trying to complete the toss, he should rebound it (a trick that bokuto noticed he was testing out since he was a first year, as sort of a signature move to help him collect himself) and then we get the little panel with kageyama’s “dang, he is good…” confirming that these feelings that akaashi has been having for the better part of 200 chapters are actually unfounded or at the very least unimportant when it comes to his ability to grow
ahhh haikyuu i love you… i feel like that one tweet that’s like “my parents actually got alarmed and believed i was getting more suicidal because i was acting happier when in reality i had just started watching haikyuu” 😭😭

Momijikawa really got to see Sakura in his house, wearing his clothes, beat everyone else to first name privileges, and now he won't rest until he makes Sakura's favorite meal better than anyone else. This man's greed really knows no bounds, huh

self indulgent pokemon au stuff :) rambling about his team a bit:
pichu/pikachu/alolan raichu - his starter :) starts as a pichu, mayyybe gotten for him by his family before he was able to actually start his journey...?
hatenna/hattrem/hatterene - this line is very in-tune with emotions and has a propensity for violence against people who aren't calm and nice. he would have a cute episode befriending it. also transgender
zorua/zoroark - the illusion mon... he befriends it by being able to see through its illusions and being all like Be Yourself!! i imagine its a shy zorua who usually hides behind its illusions until it meets him.
politoed - politoed is a trade evolution so i like to imagine he gets it from someone... but idk who would be raising a poliwag/poliwhirl. and idk what he would have had originally. ill think on it more... but the colors and vibe of it are just too spot on to Not put it on there
trapinch/vibrava/flygon - as a trainer he just wanted a Cool pokemon. the only one he actively wants and seeks out to catch. picked flygon out of all of them cause. well. green. im a sucker for aesthetic
aipom/ambipom - a pokemon that is canonically good at ping pong. also one of my favorites and im biased so shut up.

Which clearly didn't happen. News years resolution I Need To Post These More Often. Anyways. Tashiro be upon ye. The hanzashiro are inspired by the lovely @aranarumei's writing.
