Vallier and Simon in Les Feluettes (1996) dir. John Greyson
this is a fresco on the walls of an old prison chapel in Madrid, made around 1950 by Spanish Roma artist and anarchist Helios Gomez, which depicts Our Lady of Mercy (patron saint of prisioners) as a Roma woman, inspired by the song Angelitos Negros (little black angels) by Eartha Kitt. He was obligated to do so by the prision priest, to turn a single cell into a chapel so prisioners could pray before facing the firing squad. It is said he painted some recluses along the angels and other characters. The black and white is a photography of what it uses to look like before a real estate agency covered. The other pictures are current, after it was uncovered and it is said to be restored soon.
