“What even happened?”
“Oh you know the usual. They fought and then decided to run.”
riley--miller:
“If you say so. Need a drink?”
“Yeah, definitely.”
lucyxcooper:
“Jeez, what even happened?”
“Ya know the usual. They fought and then tried to run.”
lydiasykes:
“I’m not sure I want to,” Lydia said as she looked at him. “I think you might need to get that cleaned up.”
“Yeah, you are probably right. Think I should go to the hospital?”
petunia-rxmsey:
“I actually haven’t been ice skating in forever,” she admitted, trying to remember the last time she had actually done that. “That sounds like fun, but I might be a bit rusty.”
“Well let’s do it.” He stated, looking over at her for a moment. “Don’t worry we can go slow.”
nikkiclayworth:
“Which is very unusual so I’ve been feeling suspicious.”
“Yeah, I agree. I don’t like it.”
joanweston:
“Are you alright? You look really awful.”Â
“Yeah, I’ll be fine. Promise. You should see the other guy.”Â

She was relieved to see who it was and nodded, “ Yeah, my car is stuck at the station. Battery died or something.”Â
“Well I can have a look tonight or look at it in the morning if you want.” He offered, looking over at her.
Rosie knew that it was bad to walk home at night from her shift. But her car wasn’t working and there was no she would use her patrol car. She can hear footsteps behind her, and the flashbacks came back to when she was followed home as a child at night. “ I have a gun and I’m not afraid to use it!” She yelled out to whoever it was behind her. @secretsummerstarters
“Whoa, it’s just me.” Ezra stated, moving over to her. “You alright, Rosie? Need a ride or something?”
nikkiclayworth:
“I’m so over it.” She made a face, though looked interested at the mention of the station. “I can imagine. Anything big?”
“I don’t blame you one bit.” Ezra shook his head a little bit. “Not at all really. It’s like the killer took a vacation over the holiday.”
petunia-rxmsey:
“Cool….so what is it you’re doing?” she asked, trying to remember what it was they were talking about before she stumbled over her words like an idiot.
“Oh, I was going to go ice skating. Do you want to do that? Or just go and get some hot chocolate?” He offered.
“I’m fine I swear. You should see the other guy.” // @secretsummerstarters
“This whole damn holiday season has been so fucking slow, it’s driving me insane.”
“I get that. Trust me. Though we have been busy at the station.”Â
@secretsummerstarters
“Oh…well, can we pretend like I didn’t just say something stupid and start over?”
“Yeah, of course we can.”

“Yeah, it’s scary stuff but we’re on it.”
→ Background
Ezra and his cousin Henry have always been close, being the golden boys of the Ryder family. Ezra’s older brother Mitch was a different story. His brother would rather spend his time getting high and drinking with his buddies than studying or spending time with the family. As a result, the boys became a little estranged, though Ezra always figured Mitch was jealous of the fact that their parents preferred Ezra over him, and treated him better as a result. Ezra was always a good kid. Got straight A’s and never got into any trouble. Maybe the odd scuffle with other kids when he was trying to defend people but other than that he was an excellent student, friend, and son.
Ezra was always very focused on his future when he was younger, so focused that he hardly gave much thought to girls and relationships. His brother and cousin seemed to always do much better than him in that department. Ezra could come on too strong, when he did try, and sometimes scared the girls who did like him away. He has a pattern of having a crush on most of Mitch’s girlfriends too, he’s liked Mandy (Lizzie’s mother) and he’s had a thing for Josie Williamson in the past, even Brooke Ford at one point. It’s an annoying habit that he’s tried to break and it really irritates him because why can’t he just find a girl of his own?! It starts to feel like they’re in competition and it frustrates him.
→ Back to Baberton
Ever since he was a kid, Ezra has wanted to be a police officer, help catch killers and put bad people behind bars. He now works at the police station as an officer, partnered up with Rosie Laughlin, who he likes but finds her a bit tough to handle sometimes. They get on well enough though and are a good pair. When he’s not at work, he’s usually taking walks through the woods to help him relax, with his dogs, or trying to catch up with his brother and his niece Lizzie (and his other niece Imogen Ford since Mitch doesn’t seem to know how to be a good enough father to the poor girl). He feels bad that he and Mitch aren’t that close and he wants to change that but he doesn’t know how, after all this time has gone by. It feels like there are too many bridges to mend that there’s no point but he doesn’t want to give up. He wants to have a good relationship with Mitch but he isn’t quite sure how to go about it as Mitch seems to want nothing to do with the family most of the time, keeping his distance. Ezra knows that their parents were pretty awful to him growing up and still are now that they’re adults, but sometimes he thinks Mitchell just needs to try harder. Other than that, Ezra feels like it’s time to settle down, find a nice girl, maybe start a family of his own finally. But it’s tough for him, he’s very work obsessed, especially now there’s a serial killer round Baberton, but he’s really in desperate need of some connection.
→ What’s His Secret?
Is becoming suspicious of Alexandra Willis. He logged onto her computer one afternoon as his own was acting up and he isn’t entirely sure but he thinks he came across evidence of her covering something up. He found strange, deleted files and her search history was completely wiped along with her movements on the computer for the two weeks previous. He isn’t sure what’s going on but it sparked his suspicions and he’s trying to debate whether or not he’s just getting too obsessed and seeing conspiracies where there aren’t any or whether he should look into her a little more.
As a kid he looked up to his older brother quite a bit and wanted to connect or be closer to him. As a result, Ezra started taking drugs. Just like he knew Mitch did with his friends. It was only supposed to be a couple of times, a bit of harmless fun, but it continued and, as the years went on, grew into something bigger. He’s completely hooked on the stuff now and can’t figure out how to stop. If he admits his issues, he’ll be put on leave and what is he without his job?
Blames his brother for their parents recent divorce and their mother’s health issues. He believes that Mitch’s wild, rebellious behaviour and lack of respect put strain on their parents’ marriage and caused their mother to worry herself into sickness. Ezra has always been a parent-pleaser and believes the best of them when maybe he shouldn’t. Their parents have always been a bit overbearing and expected a lot of their kids, maybe too much, and they always put a lot of pressure on Mitch and didn’t accept him for who he was, put him down, held things over his head, especially if he asked for help… but it’s much easier to blame someone else than the parents Ezra idolises. Despite how much he wants to fix things with his brother.
