Hello!! I love, love your edits.
I'm happy to find someone who edits Mcdanno. I watched Five-0 on TV and it hurts me that the fandom isn't active. I haven't been able to get over them.
I don't know if you accept song suggestions for editing. But... I would love one of your Mcdanno edits with The Subway by Chappell Roan.
"he got away"
Sorry, it took me like three months😭
But there you go, I hope you like it :D
"I loved you then and I love you now"
first (and last) happy Destiel edit bc my bsf asked for it
While it's very clear his opinion on their relationship, I think this is like.. Where it gets fickle. His stance on gay (I will specify MLM) love is very very different to how he feels about straight love. Realistically, even if he never watched his own show in the final post editing state, he did have to do several takes of the confession scene and he continued to choose ignorance in favor of acceptance. Not that Dean is gay, but that Cas is confessing gay love to him.
He heard Castiel's words, prideful and confident and full of romantic love, and still went the 'family' route. There's a clear distinction in how you come out to family vs. someone you love. I say this, because should Cas have somehow been a woman Jensen would have definitely had no problem saying it was romantic. And because, as far as I've been able to dig and see throughout SPN's history, this is the first time he compares their relationship to Father/Son, which like I said, is weird and new and still completely inappropriate.
In fact, he plays his straight character roles the same, with the same intimacy. Castiel's confession was deeply intimate in a clear romantic way, not situationally the same as other straight roles he's played but intimately the same, if that makes sense? I'm yapping, but I'm just trying to elaborate is that this is a pattern he continues to show. And something we can't know for sure unless he elaborates on why he cannot fathom MLM gay love to the same love as FLM (is that a real term??).
But of course that is a WILDLY innapropriate question to waste over 150$ on asking some rich guy "Why do you keep comparing gay love to incest?", and a therapy session he will never take LOLL.
But he clearly does recognize Cas' confession as romantic. At (I believe) purcon 8 he said it's not subtext, it's clear text and that Dean understood it was romantic. He doesn't ignore canon, he actually kinda represents it (even if that makes us mad).
Personally, I think it is more that queer people obviously have a deeper and different perspective on topics like this, than a straight white cis man. For example, when he started talking about it being a coming out scene, I realized that I had never even for a second considered it as such. And I think a lot of the queerbaiting that happened in the show are things he doesn't even pick up on (at least in the way we do).
Plus, I think it seems more extreme bc Misha exists in the same space, a man who, at least to a certain point, has a way deeper understanding of it than the average straight guy. (And from what I know, that hasn't always been the case.)
Though I do believe it would be great for Jensen if he were to play a canonically queer character somewhere for a while, because that would deepen his understanding. Bc yeah, he probably is the kind of person who sees chemistry in a man and woman dynamic as very likely to be romantic, while for same sex dynamics it takes a lot more. A lot of people do and it unfortunately takes quite a bit of engagement with the topic to recognize that. It is just very deeply rooted in our society.
I also genuinely don't think he's trying to actually compare queer love to incest, but with his phrasing I can't blame anyone for understanding it that way. Idk if you were there, but in the whole grant of all that was said, it made sense to me and wasn't that bad. (Doesn't mean I agree obviously)
this is in response to the destiel/wincest thing, it's not just that he compared a gay love confession to an incestual love confession towards a brother, but he also doubled down and said that Cas' romantic confession of love was more akin to "coming out to your father", which is just as gross and weirdly incestuous. tbh, imho, it's not "destiel drama", it's that we all just got reminded opinion on gay people and their relationships. -- This isn't his first time implying gay love is equal to incest, either, it's just disappointing he continues to see queer folk in that way. Or. At least I'm upset in this way, as a gay man.
I know where you're coming from, but I don't think that's what was he was trying to say. He said that if you're coming out to family (which is what they were and especially how Jensen views their relationship), what you need/hope for is that you'll be accepted, which is what Cas got and that that was enough for him. And the way he said that, it did feel like to me like he understands how scared you can be when you come out. But I do agree that the phrasing wasn't great, I was also kinda shocked at first😭 I think he was more talking about the coming out part of the scene and not the "I love you" part of it and that's why he compared it to that.
For the people who aren't at purcon: Yes, Jensen kinda compared Destiel to Wincest, but then proceeded to clarify that he means that Dean's reciprocation of feelings is fictional. And then they talked about the importance of Dean accepting Cas and his feelings in this scene and that it wouldn't have made sense if he had said "me too". As much as I love Destiel, I agree. They would've had to build that up for way longer.
Either way, it is not as dramatic as it might've sounded. Idk why people are beefing about this again😭 like we all know it's only canon from Cas' side but that doesn't restrain us in shipping Destiel or make it wrong to do so??
Jensen asking Misha if he is the president of Destiel. I love it.
"they are like nerd soulmates"
I love them, they're so underrated
"I never think about you at all"
regularly thinking about Danny disliking Steve at first bc he thinks Steve sees himself as invincible and better than everyone, until he realizes that Steve just doesn't have any regards for his own life and is afraid of losing people...
Steve also would always choose to die with someone (Danny) instead of losing them and continue living.
He does this in s3 e6 when Danny is threatened by the bomb and in s5 e18 when he tries to get arrested with Danny bc he knows he'll get killed there.
And I think my fav example of Steve's behavior is s8 e9 and e10, bc in e9 they're all infected by the virus, including him and he is totally calm and accepting his fate. While in e9 when Danny gets shot he is the most stressed and freaked out I have ever seen him.

There's no better feeling than finding out about a ship and then watching the show, and realizing people might've even been under exaggerating with how in love they are.
