I agree I can't wait for the bubble to burst and the corporations to fail, because only open-sourced local model users will be left. Those who practiced ethical AI will be set up for the post-bubble world.
Also there's no theft, the terms of service are updated periodically on every website, if you don't read the terms but click accept anyways, that is only your fault if you agreed to something you don't like, it's a legally binding contract...don't sign those without reading.
Social media goes through data centers...not just AI...this message I'm writing, the one you wrote, etc....all of that is being hosted by those data centers. But I can run 10,000 generations on my local model and not a single drop of water is used, not a single 0/1 goes through the data center, and not a dime goes to billionaires.

I have a SLM on my phone that can work completely offline. In the event of an attack and there's a total network outage I will be able to look up how to purify water, or grow crops, or navigate to a disaster relief area many miles away.

I have died on the "support artists even advertisers" hill many times and I'll do it again. Marketing is the crossroads of Design, Business, Sociology, and Psychology and is actually really cool. Small businesses need to advertise, small game studios, record labels, so hurting the big guys hurts them too.
