The humans were proof enough of Holly Blue’s words. Those specimens she could see lounged near the edge of the water, or threw themselves haphazardly from the rocks. Generations sometimes came and went between her visits, but the last one wasn’t so long ago that she didn’t recognize a few of their faces, even if she couldn’t spot the one she personally delivered. Odd. Perhaps it was hiding.
“…I should expect no less,” she replied, continuing on her way once satisfied nothing was amiss. When the cluster emerged, these would be the last humans in the entire universe ——- the last of a species Pink adored so much. They were such fragile beings, so dependent on their delicate ecosystems…even the slightest disturbance could reap disastrous consequences. And there was no disturbance quite so unpredictable as the one racing across the stars in a stolen ship.
“We have reports of a recently escape fugitive from Homeworld infiltrating outposts such as these.” Isolated, and staffed with so many defective gems, it made for an especially vulnerable target in that regard. Pausing as a towering set of double doors hissed open, Blue swept into the chamber of bubbled quartz, the Agate on her heels. She had no wish to divulge the nature of the trial ( nor how they allowed the greatest criminal in Homeworld’s history to escape ), so she chose her words with care, sharing only those details most relevant. “The fugitive in question is an organic. A human. I don’t think it unreasonable to suspect they might strike here.”
“Tell me…how prepared are you to handle such a threat?”
At her Diamond’s praise, Holly Blue’s shoulder’s (which, for the record, was STILL squared) relax. STARS. Holly Blue was sincerely afraid that Blue Diamond would... Find out about the infiltration that had happened. But as they walk into the room, Blue Diamond still does not speak of it, so things must be-
Fugitive? Uh- Oh. OH NO. Is it- OH STARS above. A HUMAN fugitive? Could- Could it be?? Holly Blue bites her lip, and sucks in a breath. Ohohoho. Oh- That. PLEASE don’t tell her. That it’s the same human that Blue Diamond HERSELF had brought to this Zoo.
She is IN so MUCH trouble if so.
“WELL!” An unusually loud ‘well’, as Holly Blue gets her marbles together. “WE, as in this facility’s quartzes and I, are most CERTAINLY able to deal with such... ‘Threat!’ The quartzes have experience dealing with humans!”
“Should they strike, my Quartzes most certainly can dispatch this threat!”
