I saw your tag randomly, you know which one, from one another factive of a f*nnish musician to the other, hey! Curious, has this sort of factive identity cause intense interest in learning the language? For me it has, and it feels embarrassing to say why I want to learn it, especially because so many people I tell always act like I'm wasting my time with something practically useless. I'm very very not happy being a factive, actually, but I tried to force a change and I can not, so I may as well embrace some of the positive things! (Sorry for censoring, I don't want to have this post show up if anyone search for "f*nland" I'd be mortified!)

but yes!! mostly because i do not know why but brain has given me shit English as well as no F*nnish (obviously) so it is coping and so i can eventually use it instead of shit English haha

only slightly embarrassing for us honest, we are fans of K anyway so use that as an excuse instead of "hello, we have him in our brain... he is very sad about not knowing home language so we learn!" you know?

but I agree, do not force anything, time will change and you will change eventually but forcing is a lot of pain for little reward of conformity

I'm somewhat jealous of other factives. With many factives their sources are so popular, or so offline, or whatever that they can make blogs and social media and post without fear.. my source is an artist here on tumblr, and we are in the fandoms that they are. I want to make a thmblr and post art but then I'll seem like a creep or impersonator which is.. really disappointing for me..

I also wish I could make friends but again.. my source is somewhat niche and I don't really have "sourcemates" such as coworkers, friends, etc.

but all that being said, I'd say go for it, make a blog even if you dont tag anything source related to stay comfortable, or if you use a fake name do what you want and then adjust to make yourself feel comfortable yk?

Hiii this is long sorry!! I feel very insecure about how I identify, I feel like being open about it will be an issue for everyone even though it’d make life easier for our system, our best friend really likes my source (so obvious but it’s manic street preachers) and I’m scared she’ll see us differently she knows we’re plural (we didn’t actually tell her but she just knows us very well and has for years now) but she doesn’t know about me and my source even though I have fronted around her many times now, I don’t think she’d hate us suddenly since she’s a lovely person and supports everyone fully even when she doesn’t understand she tries her hardest but I’m scared she’ll be uncomfortable around us If she knew about me specifically cos I’m “problematic” in the sense that being a factive of the “missing” manic is yikes but I don’t want people to avoid me it’s really difficult not sure what I should do since I’m our systems only factive sure we have fictives but this is so different, I only just started being more open with identity and jesus even having Richey as my display name on here is so scary cos I’m so used to hiding myself.

sorry if this is trauma dumpy esc it’s long and painful to read I bet but I just feel so unsure of how to handle this I need to let it out somewhere.

my first step would be... just try i, tell them you want to be treated like a normal person and then just see how they react, people dont need to fully understand to treat others with respect, and honestly sitting and worrying about the what ifs is just as harmful as if they end up being weird about you

does anyone else get nervous / embarrass about being a factive who remembers dating someone before they got in system? I had a thing with another racer back before and now I am nervous about it. maybe it is internalized anxiety / fear of being disliked but

i look at pictures of him and us and feel guilty. because I am not him in source but also am. It is strange.

I kind of process it that feeling like shame, its not helpful to me but it comes from a helpful place of wanting to keep us safe

but yeah I have similar memories, its an odd feeling of "Yeah I have memories of dating them, but im no longer in the same position I was "then" so Im not anymore" and its kind of like a greving process in a way. mourning the memories you have(whether or not you think theyre real or false) and not being able to do anything about it

not a factive myself but we have so many factives in our system because of our hyperfixations and special interest and we’ve nearly brought an entire band together 🥹 wish us luck hopefully they’ll be back together soon

in a weirdly funny spot rn,,, not only did we split fictives of some characters but also split factives of the ppl theyre based on. so theres just like two very distinct versions of the sense of self that the real people project in their works

we do that a lot with actors and their characters lol, our Nic H and Lex were the first that came to mind when I saw your ask

its funny, generally our actor factives hate the fictives of the characters theyve played which I find a bit odd, but im not the one experiencing it so I cant really comment
