Keen eyes follow the young womanâs hand as it reached into her purse. Pepper spray, taser or gun - none of which Dick wants to deal with tonight. Reflexively he tenses up. A civilian was no problem, but that didnât mean he wanted to try and disarm one without harming them.Â
âThe one and only,â Dick responds - probably a bit more cheeky than necessary in a relatively serious situation. He likes to hope that since the woman has seen him that she wonât jump to unnecessary actions. âA big one,â he supplies before tossing the folder gently between them. It is sealed shut so the papers wonât go anywhere if she drops it. He doesnât want to get up into her space to just hand it to her though.
âSomeone close to the Mayor is helping to traffic people into the city - i want to hit him where it hurts, his reputation,â Dick explains carefully. Usually exposing the crime and arresting someone was the family way. But he wanted this man to never be able to do anything with a scrutinizing look again. âTake a look if you want to verify for yourself,â he offers. Inside was everything the reporter could want from photographs to a flash drive with telephone transcripts.Â
Greta picked up the envelope hesitantly as she listened to him speak, she was too focused on his words and opening that envelope to even pay attention to the fact her expression had shifted to a glare directed at the envelope, but meant for the person responsible.Â
Allegedly, she reminded herself, all she had right now was an envelope full of documents that may or may not be authentic. She couldnât say it would surprise her if it were true, infuriate, horrify, yes, but surprise? No. Gotham was so full of corruption it was impossible to keep up with, even if she spent all of her waking hours trying to.Â
Focused on the documents she dropped the taser back into her purse and began to sift through the papers in front of her. âWhere did you get these?â She asked, not expecting much of an answer, but a girl could always hope somebody would make her job just a little bit easier. She paused for a moment, âWhy did you give these to me of all people? Thereâs a lot of journalists with more pull on the public than me.â
âTELL THE TRUTH OR SOMEONE WILL TELL IT FOR YOU.â

a little psa that if you feel like your female muses are being neglected always throw them at me because female characters need to be protected at all costs and there shouldnât be a reason why people are neglecting female characters in the first place because they can be just as developed and complex and well written as male characters okay thanks

âRight.â She pulled out her phone, pressed the home button, and said, âSiri, whatâs the non-emergency number of the NYPD?â
Greta frowned, âYouâre really gonna waste your time with all that when you could just answer a few questions?â She asked, as though it wasnât the norm, the lengths a person would go to just to avoid answering a few questions would always astound her.
jane-buchanan-barnes:
âSo, what will be enough to get you to go away?â Bucky asked. âI donât talk to reporters off the clock.â
âThatâs a bummer, because short of calling the police thatâs the only way youâre gonna get rid of me.â

Stalking reporters is not Dickâs definition of a good time - he isnât Wally after all. But he had recently found out that one of the Mayorâs Aids was helping to run a sex trafficking ring into Gotham via Bludhaven and he knew the best way to take down men like that was to hit them where it hurt - their reputation. Which was why he gathered all the evidence that anyone would ever need and hunted down a reporter in Gotham Tim had assured him wouldnât be in anyoneâs wallet.Â
Hence how he wound up dropping to the ground silently behind a young woman at eleven at night.Â
âMs. Walker, I think I have a story for you,â Dick says - loudly enough that he announces his presence and hopefully doesnât terrify the woman in the process. Most people in Gotham are used to her masked protectorâs - but most people werenât prepared for one to drop down behind them in the dead of night. Dick has gotten a couple of bad reactions from doing this before, hence why he stands far enough away he canât be punched or kicked reflexively.Â
Greta almost jumped out of her skin when she heard a voice behind her, being out past dark in Gotham was something she generally tried to avoid, although she was pretty bad at it. Night in Gotham was where most stories began and ended. She whipped around, hand in her purse gripping her taser.Â
âNightwing?â her voice was probably an octave higher than usual from the surprise. She paused, examining him, he looked like the real deal, she took a deep breath and placed a hand on her chest to calm herself down, leaving the other hand holding onto her weapon. Doubted it would be of much assistance with a vigilante who spent a decent amount of time fighting people with guns, but it made her feel a little more secure nonetheless. âWhat story?â
starlightsulu:
Shore leave rarely was a quiet thing â something always happening , someone always needing a lending hand ; whether it be the crew or someone specific . No issues , really â happy to help . But he does wonder , when will they really catch a break ? The pilot smiles , welcoming as always . â â Yeah , I am . â A beat . â Something need flying ? âÂ
Greta paused, trying to think of the best way to phrase the situation, âKind of,â she began, he sounded helpful, that was a good sign, although everybody sounds helpful before you start talking like a crazy conspiracy theorist. âThere also needs to be something to fly, but once weâve got that, I know exactly where to go.â
