tw: death (obviously), drug use
Basic Premise: Greg ends up inheriting a house from his great aunt in St. Augustine, Florida, and decides to move there with his longtime fiance and start a bed and breakfast! Unfortunately, the place is haunted by ghosts who aren't very keen on their quiet home being turned into a bustling hotel, so they attempt to haunt them out of there. All they end up doing is accidentally injuring Greg and Greg is technically dead for a bout three minutes. When they return to get their bnb underway, they find out Greg can see ghosts and shenanigans ensue!

Main 9 Ghosts (in order of death)
Florida - The oldest of the ghosts on the property, he died in the 17th century. The son of a native woman and Spanish general, he ended up becoming a pirate. He was executed via his father chopping his head off. He tells people his ghost power is being able to take his head off, but it's actually that only his head can be taken in photographs. When he finds this out he is disappointed by his "lame" power. Age at death: 25.
Louisiana - Died in the mid 18th century. A former Louisiana slave who had escaped to Florida, only to be struck by lightning when he died there. His ghost power is predictably, messing with lightning. Age at death 23.
Georgia - Died during the revolutionary war. Originally from Georgia, he was sent to Florida for a battle, but ended up getting shot while he was asleep. His ghost power is putting people to sleep when he walks through them. Age at death: 30.
Texas - Died in the mid 19th century. A former cowboy from Texas who had to escape the law, by the time he was in Florida he was working at cowboy show. When his pride was insulted he attempted a risky trick that ended with him being dragged to death by his horse via his lasso. Only Florida knows how he really died. His ghost power is eventually found out that he can wrap his lasso around people and briefly hold them in place. Age at death: 43.
New York - Greg's great-great-great uncle who built the house and died in it in the late 19th century. Originally from New York, he was sent to Florida by his father and forced to marry a female cousin (Miss New York) to secure a land deal. The circumstances behind his death are a mystery. His ghost power is a mystery as well. Age at death: 45.
Nevada - Died in 1933. A mafioso who was in Florida dealing with rum row. They were double crossed and murdered. Died in drag, so almost everyone thinks they are a woman who died and not a man. Nevada just wants to see how long they can keep the lie up. Their ghost power is they can be heard while singing. Age at death: 27
California - Died in 1945 at a party he was not invited to. A famous actor in the 20s and into the thirties, by the time of his death he was killed he was considered washed up. He claims he was murdered, but actually died of an overdose. His ghost power is when he walks through people they smell burning, since his suit got singed when he collapsed. Age at death: 39.
Utah - Died in the 1980s. A mormon missionary in Florida, who got shot in the neck while teaching some children archery. Was really fucked up about his death since he didn't go to heaven, and he was now separated from his wife and children. He ends up smitten with Illithiya when she moves in with Greg, but he tries to push those feelings down. His ghost power is also unknown. Age at death: 33.
Gov - Died right after Y2K. A man with political aspirations, but chronically unable to pick a side and with several mental health issues, it wasn't really going anywhere. He died of an overdose as well at a party that was supposed to do good things for his campaign. He ended up giving his pants and underwear up so a young intern wouldn't have to be humiliated for a chance in the big leagues, so he is a pantsless and underwearless ghost for all eternity. His ghost power is he can touch things with his right pointer finger which is objectively the best power cause he can use the internet. Age at Death: 28.
Greg - Age: 28. New York's descendent. He can see the ghosts. Originally worked a thankless job as a sound guy, but when his fiance Illithiya suggested turning the mansion he inherited into a Bed and Breakfast he took it up since it was better than his old job, and would allow him to work on his passion, cooking. He's been putting off Illithiya and his marriage for a long time, and worries he loves her more as a friend than a lover.
Illithiya - Age: 28. A Mormon woman originally from Utah who later moved to Florida and fell for Greg. Has complicated feelings about her religion. And about her fiance. And about pretty much everything. She loves running the b&b, but is incredibly lonely. Wishes she could see the ghosts, especially Utah.
Hawai'i as a ghost. I don't know from what time period, but I want her in there and will figure out a spot for her at some point. I'll figure out a spot for all the states eventually.
The midwest as our replacement for the cholera/plague ghosts. Idk how it would work (maybe polio?) but I think it would be funny if they are stuck in the basement staring at the waterheater (the last basement in Florida).
The ghosts and Greg and Illithiya performing a seance and summoning Miss New York, and New York gets catharsis with his wife.
Texas finds out his son who he had to leave behind is on the property close by and gets to yell at him and see him for the first time in 200 years. Last time he saw him he was a baby, and he came looking for his dad when he was old enough.
A guy named DC comes to the b&b and they discover he is Gov's son, born nine months after Gov died. Lots of feels.
Florida and Gov getting starting to sleep together just when Loui is getting ready to admit his feelings to Florida. Ends up being a throuple situation.
Utah's family comes to pay their respects and Utah has a lot of feelings about all of it. Utah's ex-wife was cheating on him with his best friend, Kingsley is trans and now goes by Kinsleigh, etc. But Eventually things are okay.
OBVIOUSLY Florida and Texas fighting about pirates or cowboys.
