Oronce Fine, Le Sphere du Monde (1542)
I get asked a lot for tips with coloring black people, so i put together a little tutorial! (and bumps my kofi if you found this helpful)
When do I know I’m Spider-Man?
You won’t. That’s all it is, Miles… a leap of faith.
Miles walks to the edge of the roof, the wind buffeting… and LEAPS! The camera is UPSIDE DOWN. Miles isn’t falling through frame. He’s RISING.

Keith Haring in 1989: “Unfinished Painting”. Haring died few months after and this is his last painting. This is supposed to be a self-portrait. Haring knew he wouldn’t have enough time to finish it. This is one of the saddest but certainly the most powerful thing I’ve ever seen.
to clarify: this is a finished self portrait. haring did know that he would be unable to continue to work; this “unfinished” painting refers to that self-consciously as a visualization of how the aids crisis and government neglect robbed him of his life and future career.
i feel like this distinction is important? there are many artists who died due to hiv/aids and left unfinished work, but haring made this specifically to comment on his impending death. i feel like stating that it’s actually unfinished takes away some of his agency as an artist/activist/pwa and the political power of the work.
study moods by subject
chemistry: a seat in the first row, diligent note taking, falling asleep in a textbook, color coded sticky notes but with no real system, fingers running across old ink
literature: studying in bed, a cat snoozing on the pillow, orchestral movie soundtracks playing softly, rereading passages that were absentmindedly passed through
math: strong cups of coffee, graph paper planners, crowded lecture halls, a furrowed brow, warm sweaters, that one special spot in the library
history: clicking pens, stacks and stacks of books, annotations in the margins, study sessions spread out on the floor, flickering candles, working in complete silence
biology: colorful illustrations, well worn flashcards, reusable water bottles, always breaking pencil lead, carefully drafting important emails
art: getting lost in readings, pastry and a coffee, receipts repurposed as bookmarks, love for rainy days, in class hand raising anxiety, a whirlwind of a backpack
world languages: early mornings, a deep seated quizlet addiction, studying with friends, practicing presentations aloud in an empty room, fidgeting in chairs, detailed study guides
engineering: hands running through hair, cups of tea either drank while they’re too hot or entirely forgotten, typing quickly, the sound as hallways fill in between classes
music: stretching fingers after long periods of writing, 11:59 submission for a 12:00 deadline, celebrating the completion of a task with something sweet, deep respect for teachers
Blood Typing - ABO
A blood type (also called a blood group) is a classification of blood, based on the presence and absence of antibodies and inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs).
inherited from both parents.
A total of 36 human blood group systems exist - ABO and the Rh determine someone’s blood type (A, B, AB and O, with +, − or null denoting RhD status)
Typing is essential for suitability in blood transfusion
Antibodies in an individual’s plasma are directed against blood group antigens that their own RBCs lack
(this is confusing, it’ll take a while before you can look at blood typing stuff without having to think)
The ABO blood group system involves two antigens and two antibodies found in human blood.
antigen A and antigen B - on the RBCs
antibody A and antibody B - in the serum
All humans can be classified into 4 groups:
Antigen A with antibody B
Antigen B with antibody A
Antigen AB has no antibodies
Antigen nil (group O) with antibody A and B.
Agglutination (clotting) reaction occurs between similar antigen and antibody. This is a seriously dangerous reaction (essentially all your blood turns to jelly) - if a patient with A antibody in their serum is given blood with A antigen on the surface, they could die.
Group O = universal donor –> has no antigens on the RBCs, can be given to anyone and no agglutination will occur because nothing to react with the antibodies in serum
Group AB = universal acceptor –> no antibodies in serum, so nothing to react with any antigens on RBCs that are introduced.
Great graphic/note to transfusion logic!
Quick note that these rulings apply to red blood cell donation, and that it’s a tad different for other blood products.
