theres a billion funny things about sophie and nates relationship but the best one is literally the first scene they share
because nate is SO REPRESSED that for the entire first season his entire background is Dead Son, Bitter Alcoholic, and Worked At IYS. you dont even find out about his wife until the season finale. this man is not giving ANYTHING away. you learn more about *elliot goddamn spencer* than nate in season 1, and elliot is a fucking government black ops spook
but then in the first episode hes like "we need a new face, we need somebody the mark doesnt know... omg lets go get sophie <3 shes so wonderful and amazing shes the best criminal youve ever seen" just bragging about his Not-Wife to anybody who will listen
and sophies like No No I'm Honest Now
and nate says I'm Not
and sophie has this little headtilt of like. holy shit he wants to break the law i HAVE to fuck him now. and the conversation goes on and nate asks if shes in and sophies head fucking VIBRATES from how hard shes nodding her agreement
and meanwhile parker hardison and elliot have to pretend theyre not watching their boss have weird grifter mindgame sex in a dirty alleyway
can we take a moment to appreciate hardison's ingenuity in the mile high job?
Need to transform from maintenance worker to office worker? Accuse someone of discrimination!
Need to get your fake boss out of the office? Whoops, urgent meeting nobody seems to remember putting on the books!
Need to get your real boss off your back for being late to work? Fake a power outage! (Come on, we've all done it...except me)
Need to get your fake boss out of the office again? It's your birthday! (I love how this also implies haldeman attends the birthday parties of all his employees despite being very busy)
Need to get the hard drive out of the building safely and in an unsuspecting manner? Bam! Get fired!
This whole episode is one roller coaster after another.
I love the fact that the Leverage Crew is canonically absurdly rich and this is used to justify everything from advanced tech to Hardison buying a building. They found the infinite money glitch (robbing rich assholes on the regular).
Best traits u can give a character are genius level intellect, the ability to play the violin, geekiness, a problem with authority, a genuinely impressive amount of patience for their emotionally stunted friends, a heart of gold, Judaism, a mysterious yet beloved offscreen parental figure, an overcommitment to the bit, and -
Alec Hardison. The best traits u can give a character are the ones that make them Alec Hardison.
a little ezra bridger for may 4th ... happy star wars
tumblr absolutely fucked the quality .. pls click to see
This guy's illusions are great
I like to think this is the story of him breaking out of prison and then going on an extended spree of mischief
truly on some bullshit that we never met hardison's nana who raised not one but TWO Robin Hooder genius hackers; who IS she?? I must Know More
The Almost Hug
Been thinking a lot about how Eliot regulates his strength. When he wants something from anyone on the team, he pushes and pulls, but no more than they can equally fight back. (At least initially)
This clip of the hug with Hardison has been clipped for ages, but the whole scene is so cutie and also demonstrates how Eliot could immediately push Hardison away with ease, but he chooses not to. He chooses to fight and give up ground to Hardison, so he kind of still lets him in.
When they bonk heads Hardison immediately adjusts while Eliot pulls away because Hardison is not actually trying to make him uncomfortable, and he knows as well as anyone that if Eliot really wanted him off, he would be off.
Eliot still saved Hardison because of course he did. It's a physical retelling of how they do care about each other, and the almost smile when Eliot threatens to break Hardison's arm is the cherry on top.
That could be interpreted as a real threat, it's a very possible thing for him to do, but it's truly beautiful how everyone, Haridson Parker Sophie Nate, they all aren't afraid of him. They trust him because they know the threats are empty.
also Parker's indignant "No i didn't" god, I love her. Parker analysis coming soon.
GAH okay ill shut up.
<3,
Ophelia
probably shouldn't think too hard about Nate's life cuz it goes :
Kid who lost his mother young taught by his mob boss con artist father how to con people in every way possible
Want to divorce from that and be a good person, study to become a priest
Realizes he's too fucked up to be a priest already, quits and find another way to be a good guy : work to stop thiefs and con artists by knowing their methods
Get a good insurance job doing smth he loves, get married to a colleague, have a son
Boom son is killed by your evil insurance compagny, everything you believed in crashed down and every attempt so far at being good made you miserable
Get family found by a bunch of criminals who think you're good and you can make them good too
You kinda do make them better but it's making you worse
Get revenge on your insurance compagny so you can let go of the past and start fresh
Con life finding you again along with the thief family
Guess it's a sign from god or smth it's not like you have a lot to fall back on anyway
It's fun and it's for the greater good and it's using the vicious and cruel part of you you could never quite smother so let's do it for a few more years
Realize you've changed in irreversible ways and you can't recognize yourself or your own soul anymore
By the way you definitely fell in love with your con artist girlfriend and you finally start to think there might be more to life than work and there's a future there
Make a final elaborate con so your found family gets something to do and won't harass you no more and ask your gf to leave the game in both of your prime to get a boring quiet life. She says yes
Leave a legend
Number one reason to watch Leverage, no matter what season you're on. No matter what episode you pick. Every single episode is Leverage. No more or less.
Had a friend express worry that Eliot Spencer gets injured so often in leverage and I had to reassure them: no no. U dont get it his old job was "getting the shit beat out of you constantly for the sake of people who dont care if u live or die," and then afterward he had to drag himself home, patch himself up, and do it all over again tomorrow. NOW he gets minor cuts and bruises (usually), and the moment the job is done his whole clingy crime family gets to go "oh that looks like it hurts let's get you some bacitracin and bruise cream!! Do you wanna cook dinner to feel better?" And then they all make sure he is never in any true mortal danger and he always gets a say in what he does for the job. This is like a working dog who got house privileges and now enjoys fat naps in front of the fire and fancy wet food after his long day guarding the flock. Hes doing great actually.
LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION (2021-2025) Hitter + Hacker + Thief
who else would come up with baby trapping a guy with a brewpub. who else would let themselves be baby trapped by a brewpub. incredible. no notes.
if we can set aside attachment discourse for a moment (please) i think the jedi marriage prohibition makes sense in a “please don’t enter a complex legal, financial, social, and in some cases religious contract, the specifics of which vary wildly depending on planet and culture” way. the single jedi with a law degree does not have time to draft everyone’s prenups to prevent the whole order from getting sued
