DECLAN CALLAGHAN

Declan is one of the last remaining direct descendants of the Keltar clan, but he wants no part of the legacy.  For most of his adult life, he has been dedicated to becoming and excelling as a tattoo artist in Dublin, and was well on his way to becoming a renowned artist when the walls fell and derailed not only his life, but all of humanity, as well.  Since the event, Declan has been avoiding other Keltar and the responsibility that comes with the name, unwilling to enter the fight.  He may offer guidance on occasion, because unfortunately his bedtime stories consisted of Fae lore, but he insists that this isn’t his fight.  Only time will tell who or what could inspire him to join the war.

Ben bears the unique distinction of being one of only a few male Sidhe-Seers, even if he wasn’t born thus.  Even before he transitioned as a teenager, Ben was one of the most gifted warriors the Sidhe-Seers had ever seen, and he has only worked harder at perfecting his skills.  Unlike most of his kind, Ben grew up knowing what he was and was trained from an early age to fight against the Fae.  Now an adult, he is one of the most adept at being able to see past their glamours, and has a great deal of experience dealing with them.  After the fall of the walls, he decided to make his home with human survivors in St. Patrick Cathedral, where he trains them vigorously in self-defense.

Clay Armistice is one of the few immortal beings that has managed to keep their hope and innocence.  A member of The Nine, no one is quite sure when or where they were born, but in their time with humans, they have striven to be a source of light and happiness, a beacon of hope.  Despite being immortal themselves, they have spent much of their time learning to heal, and have earned doctorates several times over on different continents.  Since the fall of the wall, they have dedicated themselves to the human survivors encamped at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, offering their healing services when needed and an attentive ear when they aren’t.

Before the walls between Faerie and the human world fell, Dauntay Lathan was living his dream.  A child prodigy, he advanced quickly through school and earned his phD in electrical engineering before he was 23.  Now that the human race is in a fight for survival, Dauntay has become a pivotal figure in the struggle for Dublin.  His engineering expertise is immensely useful in a city whose power grid is out, and his own desire to help bridge the gap between small communities of survivors has led him to develop a broadcasting system to communicate over fm frequencies.  Dauntay is the only reason the different groups of survivors have any idea what is going on, despite the fact that people aren’t really his thing.

Adaora is young by Seelie standards, having only been born two millennia ago.  She is one of the few fae alive that are younger than the human race, and thus she holds a more unique perspective on the mortal world as opposed to the elder of her kind.  In a sense, she grew up alongside mankind, and has developed an unrivaled affection for them.  After the walls between the fae and the mortal world fell, Adaora has dedicated herself to helping the humans survive and find a way to put the walls back in place.

Cleary had been anticipating graduating from college with her degree in music when her older brother, Reilly, dragged her out of her dorm.  She wasn’t aware of what had happened, but it soon became abundantly clear that whatever it was was catastrophic.  Since joining other refugees with her brother, Cleary has made herself an invaluable diplomat between humans, Sidhe-Seers, and Fae (whom seem particularly interested in the little ginger).  When communication breaks down and old, bitter, and now utterly inconsequential wounds open up between the races, Cleary is there to talk some sense and make everyone see eye-to-eye.

Until the walls crashed around Dublin’s ears, Reilly was a fairly normal man in the process of writing his dissertation for his phD in history at Trinity College Dublin.  On top of being a full-time student, he also worked full-time at a busy pub on Temple Bar to pay for not just his schooling, but his younger sister, Cleary’s, once she graduated secondary school.  Now that the barriers are down and the mortal world is overrun with both benevolent and malevolent Fae, Reilly is simply fighting for survival and to keep his sister safe.  He and Cleary take refuge in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and help other humans as best as they are able.

YASMIN MASSI

25 YEARS → BRIANNA HILDEBRAND → KELTAR → OPEN

Yasmin was one of the Keltar tasked with upholding the walls between the mortal and Fae realms, and was present at the ritual meant to reinforce the barrier, which ultimately failed.  Though she doesn’t risk saying anything without proof, Yasmin suspects sabotage from within the Keltar.  After all, why else would a ritual that’s been performed for centuries suddenly stop working at the exact moment the Unseelie were at their strongest?  Since the fall of the walls, she has been wandering without direction, though she also spends a great deal of her time at Barrons Books & Baubles among Jericho’s rarest tomes alongside Barrons and Adam Black, trying to find a way to put the walls back up.  She feels immense guilt for the loss of life since the walls crashed, and tends to bury it in silence.

Bronwyn is an Unseelie princess who finds great amusement in affecting the glamour of a beautiful, blonde woman that most mortals would classify as innocent and pure based on appearances alone; she is anything but.  Unlike most of her kind, Bronwyn has no direct quarrel with humans, nor is she particularly invested in seeing their world destroyed.  After all, it would be terribly boring without the impulsive unpredictability of humans, wouldn’t it?  One might find the princess aiding either side in the quest to reinforce the walls or keep them down, lending her help when and only if it suits her.  She plays both sides, unwilling to put all of her coin on one horse, so to speak.

JERICHO BARRONS

Jericho Barrons is one of The Nine, a mysterious group of beings that have been traced back more than four thousand years.  As a member of The Nine, Jericho is ageless, and while able to be killed, all of The Nine resurrect in the same precise geographical location every time they are slain.  Jericho’s place of resurrection is a tightly held secret after the tragedy that befell his son.  A young teenager in the first century after Christ, Jericho’s son was found by a group of mercenaries and his place of resurrection discovered.  The mercenaries slew Jericho’s son every day for years while his father searched for him, driving the young man insane.  Jericho now keeps his son imprisoned beneath his bookstore, Barrons Books & Baubles to keep him and others safe.  What happened to his son has left Jericho apathetic at best, caring only for a few close to him with fierce loyalty, but damning the rest of the world.  Up to this point, he has been neutral in the fight between the Seelie and the Unseelie, and only time will tell what or who might persuade him to join the fight to seal the Unseelie monsters away.

ADAM BLACK

Adam Black may appear like a normal human man in his late twenties, but he is the furthest from.  He wasn’t always human.  In fact, Adam Black was once a member of the fae race and has lived through uncountable centuries.  He was known for being manipulative and passionate, with more than a little bit of a vindictive and impulsive streak.  He wasn’t called “the blackest faerie” for nothing.  Love, however, changed him, and it was a Sidhe-Seer that Adam fell in love with.  Banished by the Seelie queen from court, it was during his exile that he met his Sidhe-Seer, and while he was attempting to use them to get back into the queen’s good graces, he fell in love and made the ultimate sacrifice: he gave up his immortality to become human and share just one lifetime with them rather than suffer countless without them.  After the fall of the barrier between the mortal realm and Faery, Adam is in Dublin struggling to help put things to rights and to keep his very mortal self - and his lover - safe.  He ultimately cares for no one other than himself and his lover, and will do whatever necessary to keep them both alive.  Currently, Adam resides in Jericho Barrons’ bookshop, and assists the man with research to re-erect the walls between man and Fae.

Shara descends from a long line of powerful Sidhe-Seers that made their home in Wales until the fall of the walls between Faery and the mortal realm.  After learning of Dublin’s fate, Shara felt obligated to travel to the city and offer help in any way she could.  What is referred to as a Null, her touch is able to freeze any Fae in their tracks, and the young woman has used that gift to keep the more unsavory Unseelie away from mortals the best that she is able.  Shara calls the famous St. Patrick’s Cathedral home along with a large portion of human survivors, utilizing it with other Sidhe-Seers to teach humans how best to avoid Dark Zones and how to spot the Unseelie even when wearing glamour.

BREDON

One of the Unseelie princes, Bredon was created by the Unseelie king with a specific purpose - to protect him from those that would do him harm.  Bredon served the king faithfully for years despite being held captive in the Unseelie realm.  Now free and with his king missing, the prince is enjoying the revels of the mortal world, taking the glamour of a young Korean man, though he chooses to dim his Presence in order not to drive mortals around him mad.  As the days have passed, however, Bredon has become aware that the world he is quickly growing fond of is being consumed by Unseelie monsters and, thus, finds his loyalties shifting.
