Appreciation post for Fae's beautiful predecessor, Florette (or Floortje):

A shetland-appaloosa mix who loved cameras and was extremely good at not escaping (almost never did), leaving people's stuff alone (Fae struggles with this), hated geldings, loved older mares (looked for her mummy all her life 💔) (don't tell her her and Fae's best friend was younger than her), and loved humans.

Especially teenage girls, who she understood best because she was raised by them. Fae and her human has known her since Florette was four and she a teenager. Florette had to be put down due to her laminitis issues at age nineteen.

She would respond to the sound of children playing, because she thought they might come and pet her. She would wicker at humans when they had food (Fae neighs for food), and loved going out on walks. One time, she saw a Norwegian Fjord horse pulling a cart, which made her human sad because she knew Florette thought it was her old friend, who Floortje was aware had passed away.

Fae knows her scent from the stuff that was passed down to her, like Floortjes rugs. (Their friend also likes sniffing these when presented to her before the smell is replaced with Fae's scent over time.)

Have fun running around the green heavens, where laminitis doesn't exist and you can eat all the grass you want, my little spotted unicorn. ♥️🦄

Fae's human likes to read books. She says this is a horsey fantasy book – Faerie likes to think of herself as a creature with the ability to spot the gnomes who DEFINITELY inhabit the nearby swamp. 🧚🏻‍♀️

Fae seeing and hearing a musical instrument for the first time~

(Her human played Fast Car (Tracy Chapman) and Can't Catch Me Now (Olivia Rodrigo) for her – Fae bff was a little scared. 🥲)

Fae's human did not know what to call her when she first got her~

(She needed a Welsh name, so now she has the terrifying Celtic Faerie because Fae are mischievous at best, scary and dangerous at worst. 🧚🏻‍♀️)

Fae has a studbook name but did not respond to it at all. She learnt her new name within about a week because food and attention happens. (She actually responds to her name much faster than most horses and taught herself that she would do a recall. ♥️)
