"Perhaps because I was born a noble is why it was easier for me to blend amongst them, but I do understand why the lifestyle would bore you. It mostly trivial court politics and petty drama and gossipy maids. I believe I prefer myself as a rogue than an aristocrat."
"You seem like a kind changeling, so you may or may not like our ways." Liatris tells her. "We faes, though unable to lie, are very good at spinning the truth. Their perception of our words could easily be turned in our favor. Seelies are much more discreet, with their charms and whatnot. Unseelies, on the other hand, are not discreet. We could very well lead enemies or unsuspecting mortals into great peril."
"That's an interesting choice for an occupation, but also understandable. I dabbled in such a similar thing myself once, but that was so long ago. I've taken up the faux role of a human noblewoman a few times in the past, just to see how it would be. It was quite dull on occasion, but breaking a few hearts here and there passed the time."
Liatris felt his stare on him as she tried to continue working. How could she not? The stare was like metaphorical daggers penetrating from her back to her core. She barely registers his light but powerful footsteps until he was upon her again. She was ready to open her mouth in retort at being called an idiot, until he kissed her.
Aggressive. That was one way to describe how he kissed her. It was do full of passion and want that she found herself immediately reciprocating it, her arms wrapped almost tightly around his neck. Ever since they reunited, she's been wanting to do this. To kiss him and to touch him like she should have before she left the fairies.
"Warm and tropical, very much like it is now." Liatris recalls the island fondly. "The locals were welcoming and it was far less crowded and commercialized. True, the volcano was not a nice addition, but overall, it was one of my favorite destinations."
"They'll need a far larger place to store their egos." She laughs a bit and steps inside of the empty office and looks around. There is a laptop on the desk along with a flat screen TV mounted on the wall. With various closed boxes on the shelves, Liatris is sure she can find more things to hoard in her room. "I'm almost uncertain what to go through first."
"Our history tends to fail to be recorded, but it happens. And others that write our history from their perspective tends to paint us as nefarious villains. True, we are not a kind race, but we are only more open with our deceit than our Seelie cousins."
"What sort of paths have you taken?" Liatris decides to ask, just from sheer curiosity. It isn't necessary as information but she likes to know what other immortals have done with their time throughout the centuries."
"They do not need this many offices." She says as she looks at all the unnecessary space the Nephilims have taken up. There's hardly any need for them all. "If some looks like it's just for show, I suggest that we raid it completely."
"Then you need to be taught in our ways. I haven't been around the Unseelies in over five centuries, but I can teach you what I know, if that's what you want." Liatris offers her, feeling mildly generous towards the inexperienced fae.
"What does it matter anymore? I lost." Liatris says with a dry laughs. It felt to weird to say those words out loud. "I lost so much over the centuries. You, my status, my dignity, my home. What more do I even have that I can lose?" She asks, more to herself than to him, but turns to look at him anyway. "I loved you very much once. I probably still do, but it's frustrating that I don't know where we stand anymore, so my feelings are torn in multiple directions. But they don't matter anymore, right? You've already proven that you don't need nor want me. You're stronger and you're next in line for the crown. A 'lowborn' like me never had a chance, right?" She says and goes back to cleaning up the area. Liatris has never been one for truly speaking about her feelings, but it's starting to feel as though centuries of such negative emotion is starting to surface with her old friend returning.
"I've had plenty of amazing adventures. However, mentioning some may lead to my arrest." Liatris says with a small laugh. She has definitely done a lot of things, sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes in between. "A good adventure was probably visiting Hawaii. Before the settlers went and took it, at least."
"I never intended to be away from you for so long." Liatris helps herself get up, though she oddly missed being held down by him. "While it's true that I could have returned centuries ago, but I didn't believe that I deserved to anymore. You would have been better off with someone from your own gentry to love you instead of me." She says and goes to pull on her own jacket.
The sudden tackle did take her off guard and she had to catch her breath as he had her pinned to the ground with her hands above her head. This is definitely a first but she can't exactly complain. Sure, she hates being defeated, but their current position might make it worth it. Her eyes were drawn to his glistening bare chest and that annoyingly attractive smirk on his face. "Why would you let me win?" She asks between breaths, also now looking into his eyes.
"That is true. The same restrictions hardly apply to everyone. One may avoid a certain path in life if they know they won't live long enough to reach the outcome. However, we can possibly venture down most paths without that worry."
He's gotten better. That's something she definitely noticed as they sparred, trading and dodging blows as though they were gliding. While he has also improved in skill, she has as well. It was frustrating and almost addicting. Interacting with him and sparring with him. "You've improved." She breathes out between exchanged blows.
"You're kind of cute, so I'll consider it. No promises, however." Liatris says as they arrive to the offices. "Which office should we check first? There's quite a few of them."
