I saw someone awhile ago that embroidered and painted some of their own bracelets and wanted to give it a shot myself, I also love all the centipede patches I've seen around on the diy punk tag and wanted to make one for myself!
I also made him glow in the dark and my wife gave him some cute eyes and details that only show up when he's glowing!

disgust is not a moral issue
when i was 13, i was in an area of new orleans at the same time as a kink pride event. At the time i was there on a church trip and we just so happened to go at the same time as the kinksters. Honestly at the time i didnt even realise it was kink i just figured it was some sort of goth thing. i saw dudes in dog hoods and stuff, but none of it scared me i dont think. I just figured they were edgy performers.

This is absolutely something that was and is done by older lgbtq+ people and flamboyant people during protests and marches to normalize the fact that men can have breasts, that men can look like anything and still be men.
It reminds me of how trumeds like to claim that the community founders would have hated people like me, but trumeds are the ones who would have hated the community founders. The people who started the protests, the people who were “too” flamboyant, too loud, too non-conforming, the people who put themselves in the line of fire for harassment and hate, etc.
It’s almost like pride was originally supposed to be a protest and was never about licking the boots of cishet people

no matter the outcome of this election: organize, build local community, build strength in masses. elections aren't the only time politics happen, it also happens on the streets, in the community and by mutually supporting each other.
the way forward is together. we build power from the ground up. in the US and everywhere else in the world.

We should fight back against this trend by making sick trinket charms ourselves. This was interesting to me because it reminded me of how patch pants being sold premade with that same prepackaged personality. Echoes the ideas of why that shit is so dumb and why the whole point is to make it yourself.
Hate capitalism so damn much, the utter joy of creating items and trinkets, buying a trinket, getting one gifted, having a trinket that holds a precious memory, something that was gifted, bought or made for you. Its just stupid and makes me sad :((

Reposting this here because I think a lot of people need to hear this. It really annoys me when people try to make the argument that prioritizing DIY in punk/alternative subcultures is ableist.
I’m not saying that disabled people who can’t DIY don’t exist, because they do and we shouldn’t fault them for it. My problem is with non-disabled people who flaunt our experiences to convince people that DIY is inaccessible, just so they can feel better about supporting fast fashion.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that DIY is one of the most accessible hobbies. There’s a relatively low barrier to entry, with tutorials and information being freely available to anyone with internet access who is willing to learn.
I’ve spent days bedbound where the only thing I could do to occupy myself was sewing. And when I’ve talked with other disabled people, a lot of them have echoed the same sentiment, that DIY empowers them to feel creative during times where they fail to meet traditional standards of productivity. It’s ignorant to pretend that DIY and disability are incompatible, when for many people, the hobby is inextricably linked to their identity as a disabled person.
Point being, never underestimate the power or resilience of disabled people. There’s something so human about the desire to create, and the fact that so many of us look for inventive ways to participate despite resistance from our own bodies is powerful
Parents: Stop invading every possible boundary your adolescent (or older) child could have and then wondering why they have difficulty refusing unwanted sexual advances. Of course you’ve probably told them before that they need to say “no” to people they don’t want to have sex with. The problem is that this statement contradicts everything else you’ve taught them about consent and boundaries in any other circumstance.
-You teach them that their “no” doesn’t matter when you choose their after school activities for them. -When you remove the lock on their door and insist you have access to any private journals or internet activity they have, you communicate that their boundaries don’t matter. -When you react with outrage to your child not wanting to be physically affectionate with you or other family members, you teach them that other people have more of a right to their body than they do. -When you choose what major they study, you communicate that other people’s wishes for who they become are more important than their own. To pretend these repeated violations of autonomy have absolutely no influence on the child’s ability to stand up for themselves in a sexual situation is absurd blame shifting. Teach your child other’s desires for them are more important than their own at at all times and see them suffer at the hands of everyone else who believes the same thing about them.
