every day it just concerns me how little compassion people have. no compassion for those living in the global south. no compassion for immigrants. no compassion for disabled ppl. no compassion for addicts. no compassion for prisoners. no compassion for children. like holy shit ...
i made a separate post about this but actually there are plenty of people cough white people who care about animals more than they ever do human people . not what i'm talking about make your own post
I wanted to do a few of these, but I’ve just run out of time, so if I get a chance, I’ll do some others down the line. Until then, here’s my golden boy!" More info below the break.
This was a really fun one, but I definitely spent too long on this in between other projects. It just felt good to work on something for me, when everything else is chaos at the moment.
I'm glad I went for a black model this time, as it's not a skin tone I have painted properly recently, and I wanted to practice some more, and it compliments the gold so well. I had a crisis on how to reflect the gold properly with so much metallic sheen and different bounce lights, but I had some help from the lovely Toby fox on it, and we dissected light sources, what ones could reflect where and how. Plus, I’m glad I went for the colour combos against a cooler background and chose a peaceful moment for a hunky merman at rest.
Sadly with my long covid/CFS I get kind of...fuzzy, very easily these days, I don't have much in the way of problem-solving patience, and it gets to me, so having art support always means the world ❤ I’m super keen to keep learning, but it’s at a snails pace, and it can often feel like I’ve been defeated before I even start. So, getting this guy done is a big win. Mermay is always a nice time to experiment with things in general for that 😊
The model, according to a reverse google of the image I found via Pinterest is Michael Otule! Really hope you guys like it!
Alberta's $320 Billion Time Bomb 💣 | The Goose Media 🇨🇦
Alberta is sitting on a $320 billion time bomb. The oil and gas industry built it. And if nobody fixes it, you're paying the bill. Whether you live in Alberta or not. Good thing the government hired an industry insider to defuse it!
In this video, we break down how Canada's richest province got conned - slowly, boringly, and in plain sight.
We're talking 470,000 wells, 450,000 km of pipeline, $320 billion (or more) in cleanup costs. Featuring interviews with Drew Yewchuk (PhD candidate, UBC / former Public Interest Law Clinic, University of Calgary) and Philip Meintzer (Coalition for Responsible Energy / Clean Up Your Mess campaign) and Mark Dorin (Landowner / C4RE member).
If you live in Alberta, and don't want to have to pay to clean up after history's most profitable industry, send a letter to your MLA
Rural Albertans are being left to pay for oil companies' $60 billion cleanup bill. Share your story and help stop the Mature Asset Strategy.
We also relied on research from Ecojustice, who represent landowners burdened with inactive wells on their property, so if you don't live in Alberta and want to support the cause, check 'em out:
As Canada’s largest environmental law charity, Ecojustice is building the case for a better earth. Learn more and get involved.
Also, special thanks to the Canadian Energy Museum: Home of Leduc No. 1 for letting us film there
The Canadian Energy Museum is a museum located in Leduc County, Alberta, focused on sharing Canada's Energy Story. The museum offers school

POINT OF NO RETURN!! CHILD NEAR DEATH!! PLEASE HELP!!
6-year-old Souad has been anemic since birth, and starvation and disease due to the IOF assault have caused her severe additional health complications. In September she fell unconscious and was admitted to the hospital. She has since been comatose and fluid is building up around her brain.
Medical staff have worked very hard to reduce the swelling. But despite their efforts, Souad's brain is now hemorrhaging (bleeding). The swelling has been too persistent, and the pressure is rapidly bursting the cells of her brain, causing bleeding. This will kill her. Little Souad is dying.
She needs to be evacuated outside of Gaza, but this is extremely expensive. The cost for transport through the Egyptian border, medical care, and associated expenses comes to $6,000 usd, about €5,000 EUR. This is a devastating setback, but all we can do is push forward.
PLEASE HELP US #SaveSouad!!!
Please repost the GFM and tag #SaveSouad to spread the word!. SHE DOESN'T HAVE MUCH TIME LEFT!!!
€7,186 out of €7,739 EUR (1 June)
Need to raise: about €553 EUR ($643 usd)
