the way rick manages to ‘console’ morty after what he went through is by distracting him.

he calls himself morty’s dad and lets morty take control of the motorcycle (more like forces him to, because it’s almost the real thing, almost a hug).

all morty yearns for is to be loved. all he wants is to be told “i love you.”

rick calling himself his dad is the closest he gets.

for all the metal inside of morty, i wouldn’t be surprised if rick has a tracking device or some other listening device implanted inside him.

for someone who knows so badly what morty wants, rick sure as hell doesn’t feel bad for not giving it to him. because LOOK! it could be so much worse morty. consider yourself lucky morty, you have it good.
