coming back to pop in and say: seladon develops a crush on pretty much anyone who is nice to her and speaks to her in a more informal tone

I really love The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and Deet is most certainly my favourite. She’s such a sweetie!

since living around so much water caused the drenchen to start having gills, wouldn’t gelfling who are genetically sifan also have gills? they literally live on the ocean most of the time

1 pet peeve i will always have about aor is the wing design -_- their wings are so small! and they all look the same! vaprans are supposed to be special because they have iridescent wings, but you don’t get that at all in the series.  in the books everyone had different colors and designs based on what clan they were from and they all sounded so beautiful

literally almost every female vapra we’ve seen (tavra, seladon, brea, mira, the peasant woman, juni from the order of lesser service, even maudra mayrin) has 2 braids in the front regardless of how their hair looks in the back.  who started this trend? did a vapran royal do it one day and everyone just thought it was genius?

So this scene is where Seladon and Mayrin have their last real conversation before Mayrin dies and it’s a sad moment of realisation for Seladon.

It’s the sad realisation that no matter how hard she tries, her mother will never see her or recognise her. 

Before this moment, Seladon’s conversations with Mayrin revolve around Seladon begging Mayrin to recognise her, ”I’m here. I’m  always here” and “but you need me, let me stay and help”. All Seladon wanted was for Mayrin to see her and the way she had become everything she was raised to be as a loyal servant of the lords of the crystal. 

And then Mayrin appears to instantly rebuke everything she had taught Seladon. That’s when Seladon realises Mayrin will never see how hard she worked to be everything that was expected of her, Mayrin will literally back down from everything she has believed her entire life before she just sees Seladon as being good enough.

Funnily enough, after this conversation we have Mayrin showing real concern for Seladon for the first time in the series, she demands to know what Aughra does with her daughter when Aughra sends her out of the dreamspace, she tells the Skeksis to get away from her daughter. In her final moments, Mayrin realised just how hurt and lost Seladon was, as well as the fact that Mayrin’s emotional distance meant that Seladon didn’t have a real parental figure to properly guide her, she just relies on her unwavering faith in the lords of crystal because that’s all she really has.

This one brief conversation really highlights that Seladon really is just a lost child begging for guidance and love she will never have.

the dark crystal wiki is pretty organized and helpful but it’s also a lot of fun when a fandom wiki is just purely chaotic

if gurjin and seladon become canon my third eye is just gonna pop right open.  the aor writers thought they could pull a fast one on the audience but NOPE we figured it out almost immediately

Aughra and Maudra Fara: Seladon you’re acting like this because you’re grieving over your mother and you never got her attention and you’re too young to be handling these responsibilities and you don’t know how to say all of this out loud so now you’re just acting impulsive
