Sorry about the serious lack of activity on here, everyone... both mods have been really busy with school and other work and haven’t had much time to post here, and there hasn’t really been much interaction here either so there hasn’t been much to post about.
Super sorry about it all, I promise things will pick up in the next month or two.

It’s nice to know who OCs can go to for a thread, so here’s a little psa to let everyone know if you’re open to original characters.
Do you guys also give advice? If so what do you think the fandom's issues are with ocs and how can someone make a character that others will like?

So I personally have never actually had any issues with OC’s since I am usually rather accepting of most things. In my mind I think it varies person to person, some people have had bad experiences with OC’s so they tend to be even more picky when it comes to other OC’s. Some people just maybe don’t like OC’s? Perhaps an OC just doesn’t have realistic things in relation to how the series is.
Honestly what I find really helpful that I do on my canon blog is if I have an idea, I throw it at a fellow RPer friend. If you have OC ideas you can always throw them at fellow RPers to get their opinions. Also feel free if you want too, to IM us or bother us off anon and we wouldn’t mind trying to help out as well!
As for the how to make a character part. I will let Mod Lucy answer that along with her opinions as well! :)

I would first like to state that this is simply my opinion on the matter of ocs and also that I will be keeping this general.
I think as a whole ocs tend to be viewed as a taboo. A lot of people are “highly selective” when it comes to ocs. And I agree that that can make people feel discouraged against making them. I don’t blame people for being selective, I have had bad experiences with ocs. But I do think it is wrong to not like all ocs or heavily judge them simply for that fact that one oc was bad. Because at the same time I have had bad experiences with canon blogs but I don’t go “I will be selective/ not likely follow X muse because I had a bad experience with one” Everyone plays their characters differently and that would be simply an unfair thing to do. Just as it is unfair to Judge all oc blogs under the same light. They are created by different people, the muses are different characters all together, and it is unlikely that you will get the same experience.
Now before this post gets too long, I will add what I think makes a good character under cut.

So the recent anon that dropped by has brought this to my attention, so I wanted to make a little PSA.
This blog is not for OCs only.
Yes, it’s focused at OCs and the masterlist is OCs only, but canon blogs are allowed to follow and participate in any future events. I was also thinking of adding on a list of OC-friendly canon blogs, if anyone would find that helpful.
I don’t want this blog to separate OCs from canon even more than they are, I want it to bring us all closer together and promote OCs in the fandom.
I don't think the other blog wants to be canon only though…? I've seen confessions for ocs there and it seems open to all blogs, where are this one is just ocs. I don't think ocs shouldn't get attention or anything like that but as a creator I wouldn't want canon blogs excluding me bc they think that ocs have their own clique. More so since they there are way more canon blogs than ocs?
Mod John: I see what you’re saying, and I’m telling you you’re overthinking this. Relax, I highly doubt this rinky dink blog is gonna start some big damn movement XD
And if that does happen, well it’s not my fault if EVERY rp blog on this site wants to adhere to nonsensical high school “clique” social structure XD
I'm sure your intentions are good, but don't you think a hub just for ocs will separate the ocs from canon blog? I know ocs have a hard time getting accepting in this fandom and making a blog where only ocs can participate might drive them further apart? Especially when there is an different hub, some people might turn that blog into "for canon" only and this "for oc" only
Mod John: Am I my fandom’s keeper? Finding a canon blog willing to rp with an oc is already hard enough, so if everyone wants to ignore everyone else and ruin it for the newcomers, that’s not my decision. People will use this and the canon one to categorize blogs? What, they weren’t already? That’s how this site works, everyone wants to fit things into neat little compartments so they can praise/ridicule to their hearts content.
Point is, it will probably separate the oc’s from canon blogs, but that was gonna happen anyways.
