So first let me start of by saying this was a total impulse buy, I saw the cover and was like: "preetttyyy😍" , and I was glad I made the choice to buy it, even without reading the description. This book starts out very slow at first, set back in 1791 with Nessa, a apothecary shop owner who spends her days helping women who have been harmed by men, and switchs back to Caroline, a women in modern day who has just found out her husband is cheating on her, the day before there 10th anniversary trip, she decides to go alone and finds something very mysterious in the river. The plot picks up very fast after that. The only thing I will say, is that the language was werid.Trust me, i know what your thinking "FK, isn't set in 1791? The language is suppose to be weird"
I get that it's set in a old English atmosphere, but it had werider language that Ariadne(set in ancient Greece), my last review. The way somethings in the book are described and worded made me deduct a few points.
So as mentioned before, this book is set in London England and flips between 1791 and Present Day, the book does a great job of show how the world has changed and differentiated from the two time periods. Also, the map(yes I just said that) was very cute
The three main characters grow and change so much in this book that I generally don't think I could describe it with out spoiling it. We like to keep things spoiler free her. So I'm just going to say that if you love seeing leads grow and learn from there mistakes and follow there dreams instead of listening to what other people say, this is THE BOOK for you.
It was pretty good. I loved the characters and there Growth, the mystery behind the Lost Apothecary, and overall aesthetic of the book.Im not going to mention the ending because, I don't think I could handle it with out spoiling it.
