— the 1909 play Beauty and the Beast:  Fantasy in Two Acts by Fernand Noziere, the very first published version of the story where the Beauty is disappointed when the Beast transforms into a human at the end. (via corseque)

1909.  This isn’t a Millenial thing.  Their grannies even wanted to fuck The Beast.

Even in Jean Cocteau’s film version, Belle’s reaction to the transformation was “Ou est ma bette?” translated: “Where is my beast?”

Belle was totally a furry.

“Kráska a Zvíre” (1971)

A Czech television movie, based on “Beauty and the Beast” fairytale. This movie was the basis for Czech movie “Panna a Netvor” filmed in 1978. However, “Kraska a Zvire” related to the original tale more, than its “remake”.

Fairy tale retellings begin with the bare bones of folklore tales and flesh them out with deeper characterization, detailed settings, and fuller plots. Some retellings focus on just one fairy tale; others combine several. Some retell the whole story, while yet others focus on what might have happened before or after the tale we know. Many fairy tale retellings find their setting in a magic-rich fantasy world or alternate history, where they might attempt to explain why Rumpelstiltskin wanted a child or show fairy folk interfering in Elizabethan politics.
