It juxtaposes the three crosses, including the central cross of Christ and the king of metals, with the hermetic emblem of the Emerald Tablet of Hermes, inscribed within the triangle and bearing the names of the seven angels.

The Emerald Tablet of Hermes is one of the most famous alchemical texts. Engraved on an emerald tablet, it is believed to present the teachings of Hermes. The emblem of the Emerald Tablet ( Tabula smaragdina Hermetis ) is a symbolic figure that accompanies the eponymous text from the late 16th century onward. and century. At the very bottom, the Good Shepherd welcomes the initiate at the entrance to the temple.

The sources of the borrowings that construct this table can be found in the alchemical works of Basil Valentine, in particular in a plate from L'Azoth ou le moyen de faire l'or caché des philosophes (1 re ed. 1624) as well as in the Twelve Keys of Philosophy (1 re ed. 1599).
