I was scrolling through the persecutor tag because I'm in a mood and a post/sentiment kept coming up that really fucking grates on me:
"It's never okay to lock another alter up! You're violating their rights! There is never any possible explanation or justification of deliberately repressing another alter! This is not nuanced at all, and if you try to introduce any nuance to this conversation, I'm talking about you!"
And this sentiment is supposed to be in defense of persecutors.
Maybe I just don't fucking know what's going on in other systems. Maybe my persecutor's role is just wildly different than other persecutors for some reason.
But isn't the person locking other people up in the system usually a fucking persecutor themselves doing their fucking job?
"There are other ways to deal with people's bad behaviour than locking them up!"
Why are we assuming that all the people who get locked up in a system are receiving that treatment because they've done something wrong?
My persecutor's main role in my system is making sure other parts stay locked up and repressed. Because they cannot fucking be here and us stay safe and sane.
Because, newsflash, not all systems are in a fucking place where they can behave in the most healthy way possible! It's almost as if dissociative systems, which sums up the majority of the circumstances which create the plural population, is an adaption; and becomes a maladaption when it's not needed anymore.
Have you ever in your self-centered little world considered that SOME of us still fucking need the boundaries and repression of dissociation to survive without completely collapsing; or worse, getting genuinely fucking beaten or kicked out of our own homes, by our family, landlord, or the state? That some of us would be incarcerated in ACTUAL mental or criminal prisons if we didn't maintain our internal prisons?
I'm not going to pretend that I believe in carceral and punitive justice, because I don't, and I do believe that is a violation of a person's human rights.
I'm also not going to pretend that I don't believe the interactions between system members is fundamentally different than the interactions between individual-bodied humans; and not all incarceration in systems is an attempt at protecting non-system members safety or preventing unethical behaviours.
Stop pretending that repression and incarceration is the same thing. All system members are people with rights, yes, but the communal society we live inner-system is VASTLY different than the society between individual-bodied humans. It's frankly fucking disgusting to me to compare "locking-up fellow alters" to outer-world incarceration and say with your full chest that they're the same thing and violate the same rights.
You're comparing my persecutor to an actual fucking cop and prison warden because he does his job of keeping high-stress parts out of the already high-stress environment we live in; for the safety of fucking all of us, THEIRS most of all?
FUCK. OFF.
and keep my name as a persecutor out of your filthy goddamn mouth.
