?????
this is my custom furby baby, nectarine!! i always wanted this particular color of furby baby as a kid, so i didn’t want to change her fur. i gave her a bath, sewed her new ears (i’m not fond of the fabric they use on furby ears since it gets pilly and isn’t soft, replaced it with minky), painted her beak+faceplate+eyelashes, and made her new eyechips <3 i love her so much! for a first time custom, i’m really happy with her. i’ve got one more (an adult furby) that’s in the pipeline who’s getting a full makeover complete with new fur, so … WE’LL SEE HOW THAT GOES
How to Make Custom Eyes for a 2012 Furby
When I was making my long Furby I couldn’t find any resources for making a custom 2012 Furby. I figured out how to make eyes for them so I figured I would share it!
Supplies:
+Epoxy Stickers 1 inch clear (For bottle cap pendants) I have linked ones that are perfect!
+Paper
+Art supplies for painting or drawing the eyes
+ A popsicle stick
+Hot Glue Gun
Instructions:
1. Design the eyes for your Furby! You can be realistic or do whatever you want!
2. Trace an epoxy sticker twice. The ones I linked on Amazon are the perfect size to fit in the 2012 Furby faceplate!
3. Draw whatever design you decided on the circles
4. Color them! (You could also add glitter or whatever you want. Just make sure it doesn’t stick up too much or the epoxy sticker won’t fit nicely.
5. Stick on the Epoxy sticker! Make sure to press it down so there aren’t any air bubbles! Make sure to get the sticker centered so it doesn’t look off.
6. Cut them out!
Now I forgot to take pictures when I actually did this for Edmond (My Furby). I’ll explain it the best I can! When you take apart a 2012 Furby faceplate you should have 4 parts. A clear plastic cover that went over the screen eyes, an eyelid, the main head plate, and an eye faceplate. It should go like this from outside to inside Main head plate (The part that makes up the face that you can see outside), the eyelid, The inner faceplate that the clear eye cover fits into. I would recommend if you are changing the colors of the faceplate paint the inner parts that color too incase some shows a tiny bit. I would recommend painting the face at this stage when it is all taken apart.
7. Now what you are going to do is take the clear eye plate. Fit the eyes that you have made onto them. Make sure you get them in the correct position. I had to redo it several times to make sure they matched.
8. Once you are sure they are how you want them to break a popsicle stick big enough that it goes across the two eye chips and connects them. I would recommend having two popsicle sticks to keep them in place. Now check to make that they eye chips completely cover the clear eye plate from the outside so you can’t see into the furbies head through the eyes.
9. Once you are sure you are happy hot glue the popsicle sticks in place. Then hot glue the connected eyes to the clear plate.
10. Now connect all the pieces in the correct order that you took them apart in/ How I explained it earlier. Since if you do it this way there are no mechanical bits you have to hot glue the pieces into place. They will be unable to move.
Now you are finished with the head! I didn’t find many resources when making a custom Furby with a 2012 one so I hoped this helped if you are making your child with one!
