A short Yoonmin ‘angst’ for all you who don’t care
They had both gotten some time off from work, for when she arrived. Hoseok and Jungkook had been more than willing to take the classes Jimin was supposed to teach. Yoongi had received a vacation from the military. All so they could spend some time together and get to know her when she arrived. The first couple of weeks ran smoothly, they took turns to be on baby duty at night and diaper duty in the day. Then Yoongi started getting ill. He had a high fever and spent a lot of time in bed, sleeping. Not that this was unusual for his husband, but it still worried Jimin. Some days Yoongi were awake for a couple of hours and managed to look after their daughter, while Jimin got some rest. They were both quick to dismiss it as an average virus, thinking that Yoongi would be up again in no time. Jimin busied himself with taking care of their baby daughter, while also checking up on his husband occasionally.
Three weeks passed by and there were no changes in Yoongi’s condition. Jimin grew even more worried and took Yoongi with him to the nearest hospital. The doctors quickly admitted him and informed Jimin they would have to keep him overnight for observation. Jimin was saddened by the information and brought their daughter in so they could spend the visiting hours together, as a family. He knew that Yoongi was putting up a brave front for his sake, and he admired him for that. Admired him for putting Jimin and his worries before his own.
He bid his farewell to one of the nurses short after Yoongi had fallen asleep, and with his sleeping daughter on his arm he went out to the car. He carefully placed their daughter in her car chair, buckled her up and kiss her forehead.
“I love you baby girl, everything is gonna work out. We will have Daddy back in no time.” With these words he quickly texted Namjoon, a friend Yoongi had grown up with, whom he had been introduced to senior year of college. He knew that returning home was the last thing he wanted to do. Returning to their empty cold home. He knew very well that the Kim household would welcome them with open arms, and they needed to hear the news.
He made a turn down on the highway. They were the first ones to hear the news back when they got engaged. They were there for Yoongi when his family had troubles accepting his relationship with Jimin, Namjoon were Yoongi’s best man at their wedding. They were the first to know about their plans for adoption and they were Yoongi’s oldest friends. It was their right to know what was happening now. Just as predicted were Jimin and their daughter welcomed with open arms and a hot cup of tea at the Kim household. Seokjin had carefully taken care of Jimin’s daughter, while Namjoon had helped Jimin get their stuff out of the car. They had all sat together at the dining table, each with a cup op steaming tea. Jimin told them what the doctor and nurse had told him. That they didn’t know what had made his husband ill, or what exactly was wrong with him. That they would keep him for observation. The Kims offered all the comfort ad support that Jimin needed, everything seemed a bit more manageable now.
He went straight back to the hospital, after staying the night at the Kims. Jimin soon found the nurse he had talked to the former day, asking if he could go see his husband. The young nurse nodded and shot him a boxy smile, while informing him of Yoongi’s whereabouts. Jimin thanked the nurse and entered the room. The blinds were shutting out the pale winter sun and the room was bathed in a dim light. The bed opposite of the one currently possessing Yoongi’s sleeping form, was empty. He took a seat near his sleeping husband, he placed their also sleeping daughter in his embrace. He sat like that for a while, on the chair beside the bed, holding the hand of his lover and staring fondly the view.
Jimin then walked out of the room, searching for a doctor who had the answers he craved. The answers he needed. The answers he deserved. He was met by the young nurse, whom he had talked to the last couple of times. In hopes of him being able to answer at least some of his questions, ease at least some of his worries. He waited patiently for the nurse to finish his conversation with another nurse, not wanting to come of as rude. While he waited he looked at his nurse, he carefully looked at his features. He seemed to be around Jimin’s age, maybe a little younger. He was tall, most definitely taller than both Yoongi and himself. His hair had a darker shade of brown and his eyes had a confused blank stare, as the other nurse kept talking. Jimin decided that he had been patient enough and approached the two nurses.
"Is my husband, Min Yoongi, a patient of yours?" The question came out a lot harder than intended, this was evident on the face of the young nurse, "yes he is. You can call me Taehyung, I’m afraid we’re gonna have to talk again soon." Jimin studied the nurse for a minute, processing. Did that mean they figured out what the problem was then? If so were he able to come home? Was he going to be okay? He had a million questions running through his head, all of them a bit hopeful.
"Have you figured out what is wrong with him yet? Can he come home?" The look of surprise on Taehyung’s face was quickly exchanged for one of pity with a hint of worry, "We are still not quite certain, we need to keep him here for a couple of days to work out a diagnosis," he swiftly added, "I'm sorry." Jimin couldn't believe his own ears, they needed to keep Yoongi for a couple of days? What was he supposed to do, just sit around and wait for the love of his life to get better? His hands found his phone and before he knew it, he was calling Namjoon. It rang once. It rang twice. On the third ring Namjoon picked up, "hey Jimin, how is Yoongi?" The cheerful voice of Yoongi's best friend made Jimin feel all his emotions swell up and almost forced his tears to spill. After taking a deep breath, trying to prevent his voice from shaking, he told them the news,
"and they've given him some medicine to stop his pains, but I don't know what I'm going to do now..." on the other end Jin and Namjoon tried to reassure him that everything was going to be alright, "Namjoon we've just gotten a child, I can't handle this." Jimin returned to the room where Yoongi was resided after ending his call and taking yet another deep breath. He closed the door behind him, turned around a was met with a barely awake Yoongi cuddling their daughter in his hospital bed. The sight made his mouth curve upwards in a sad smile. They spend the next couple of hours talking, every now and then interrupted by either the nurse, Taehyung, coming in to take Yoongi's temperature or blood pressure, or their daughter needing something. The young nurse, Taehyung, came in to inform them about visiting hours being over.
The next three days followed the same pattern, spend the night at Namjoon and Seokjin's house, spend all day at the hospital with Yoongi and repeat.
On the fourth day the nurse, Taehyung, informed the couple that they had to move Yoongi to another hospital to test for Ebola and Hepatitis, Jimin exclaimed how it was outrageous to believe Yoongi would have any of those deceases. Taehyung informed that with Yoongi's line of work in the military, he had been almost anywhere in the world, and he could very well have picked up a decease of some kind while being in a country with poor conditions. Being at a loss of words he simply let another nurse escort him out of the room, he had not brought their daughter with him today. She quite enjoyed her little holiday at her uncles' place.
Jimin spend the next days in and out of three different hospitals to take different tests on Yoongi, though nothing seemed to work, he still had hope. The doctors had taken away his pain medication arguing that it didn't make a difference. Yoongi spend most of these day asleep while Jimin hardly closed his eyes, constantly worrying for his husband’s life.
