To show that we aren’t a bunch of old white men
I will never stop saying this:
Natural remedies have side effects, too.
They are not less dangerous because they are natural.
You still need to consider dosage.
You still need to consider interactions with medications and other things you're taking.
Some of them will not work for you.
You HAVE to treat them with the SAME caution as you would a prescription.
the worst part about this is the young girls commenting on this video things like "what do you expect 13-15 yos to look like" like....kids.......i'm not saying to put on your dora shirt and put your hair in pigtails i'm saying that a 13 yo wearing a full face of makeup and making thirst traps is not normal
[Video Transcript: A video of a white girl wearing heavy make up with a caption saying “are u mad I’m 13 or are u mad I look better than u at 13?” The video cuts to a black woman saying “Listen I’m not here to tear down this child, but I just want to start like a discussion that needs to be had. I feel as though social media has been manipulating young girls to want to have sex appeal or want to be sexy, to the point of no return. And really it is normalizing pedo behaviour. And that’s what they do not understand. It is very sad that these young girls don’t have people their age to look up to, that is not trying to fit this sexual narrative.” The video cuts to the white girl again and the women continues “Like without make up you look 13 and that’s perfectly fine. And by no means is this me victim blaming, but this is the introduction to something way bigger that you all need to understand. And this is why these predators can say “Oh I didn’t know she was this age”. You have girls this age trying to compete with grown ass women. And this is being glamorized to the point that you have minors that say they cant’s wait to be 18 so they can be S workers. Like, no you all need to stop. End]
God thats terrifying
If you waited til being 18 to become a sex worker, you were groomed by the internet.
Enough convoluted "dying violinist needing an organ donor" thought experiments.
Let's bring this back to basics. Let's tell another story.
Imagine you're on a long journey, traveling by foot through rough terrain. A child is traveling with you. The child is too young to care for itself and you have to carry it as you travel. No one else can carry the child. If you abandon the child, it will die. After nine months of the journey, you will reach a place where you will be able to give the child to the care of others, but until then, the child requires your help to keep it alive.
You may or may not have a moral obligation to care for this child. But if you refuse to help this child, you are not the hero of the story. If you kill the child, you are not the hero of the story.
The violinist argument is disingenuous because it imagines that you are obligated to connect yourself to the person. In the real-life situation, that moment had already passed. You have been connected to this person. Unfair or not, their survival depends upon your temporary sacrifice. And it's not some unknown adult. It's an innocent child who is completely dependent on your help. You could argue all day about the analogies or the justice of it, but it doesn't change the cold, hard facts.
The one who kills a helpless child is never the hero of the story. You can say all you want that the choice has to exist. It doesn't mean that one choice isn't the wrong one.
This is a great one!
If you were watching this movie - and many movies have been made with a similar dynamic - you would not empathize with a main character who abandons the child. You would be repulsed by a main character who directly kills the child.
With these thought experiments, it’s incredibly important to remember what abortion is. It is not as simple as abandoning a child - as horrific as even that would be.
Learn about the most common abortion procedures from former abortionists:
Abortion pills (up to 10 weeks LMP - most women find out they’re pregnant at 4-5 weeks LMP)
Suction D&C/Vacuum Aspiration (5-13 weeks LMP)
D&E Abortion (13-24 weeks LMP)
Induction abortion (25 weeks LMP to full term)
(Reminder that pregnancy is often measured from LMP, or the first day of the woman’s last menstrual period. The fetal development info linked above is based on weeks from conception, which can be calculated as LMP minus 2 weeks)
So this is my introduction.
The recent leak that the Supreme Court is voting to overturn Roe v Wade has sparked- or rekindled rather - the debate about the morality and necessity of abortion (the medical removal of a human fetus from its mothers uterus.)
I’ve seen and heard many say that it’s absolutely necessary and argue for its protection in the name of children in foster care, children who suffer abuse, children who grow up in poverty, children who will be disabled, and of course… mothers who don’t want children.
Hi.
I am an autistic (disabled) girl who grew up in poverty. I was physically, emotionally and sexually abused as a child. I have six younger brothers and sisters, most of whom were born after my mom began loosing her vision. She’s now a single disabled mother of 7 kids. According to the pro-choice mindset, my life isn’t worth living, and my mother wronged us and herself all by allowing us to exist. Our right to life.
Abortion would have “saved” me, or any of my siblings, or my mom even from a miserable existence. How can we allow families to live in poverty? How can we allow the suffering of disabilities? <- This mindset is ableist, classist, frankly sexist, and wrong. My mother is the strongest woman I know; not just because she birthed and raised 7 neaurodivergent children in a home with a narcissistic man all while gradually going blind, but because she loves each and every one of us, sees the value in all of our lives, and never once considered we would be better off not living for our sake or for hers.
I find the concept that my death would have been better than my rape extremely offensive. I deserve better than that. Society deserves better than that. My death would not have been better than my abuse or better than being poor. Killing me or my siblings wouldn’t have made my mother safer or more happy, but rather would have deprived the world of 7 beautiful neurodivergent lives that are still worth living. The argument that abortion is necessary to prevent lives like mine and to protect my mom from us rather than our abuser is horrendous.
Abortion is used as the failsafe excuse to remove other options. Who needs free birth birth control when you have abortion? Why advocate for better healthcare for pregnant mothers, more protection from abusers, more resources for poor families when…. We can just wipe them out with abortion. Abortion doesn’t solve any problems. It doesn’t save lives it ends them. This culture of death and quick fixes is a grotesque bandaid hastily plastered to the bullet wound that is our societies selfishness and lack of compassion for the truly weak and vulnerable. And using the impoverished, the disabled, the sufferers of abuse, and children in a broken system to justify abortion in the name of lives unworth living? No. You don’t get to use people like me to justify wiping us out before we get to live. Despite my circumstances and the suffering I have experienced, my life is valuable. You really want to help us? Stop advocating for our death and advocate for real lasting change.
Or sure… you can call me a forced birther for believing the right to live is the most important of all human rights… for defending the value of lives like mine, or for despising this “cure all” for all the issues that make having a family, or just EXISTING hard for people like me and my mom. I don’t care. At the end of the day there’s only one side of this conversation advocating for genocide in the name of “freedom” and “rights.”
I’m Ashe. Nice to meet you.

you can make posts that are anti lawns and pro biodiversity without downplaying the real, terrible danger that ticks pose

Yes, what really infuriates me, is when those posts will mention ticks, then wave them off. like go 'oh these dumb people think any taller grass is a danger to neighborhood aesthetics and full of tics' as if the two are in any way equivalent, and then, cruelly and dangerously, leave it at that, as if ticks are a made up problem. or they'll use their image in their memes as a boogeyman then ignore any concerns.
My point isn't AT ALL 'lawns are better because ticks', there can be a middle ground. There are things like bug spray and ultrasonic repellent devices, neither of which are 100% effective, so the most important thing is always looking over yourself/your family, especially on your scalp, after you've been in a risky area. Lyme is stored in ticks' intestines, not their saliva, so if the tick is removed within a day or two, the risk of infection is low. I know someone who sent a tick for testing, and it came back positive for lyme, but since they removed it fast, they don't have it (had every test possible) however other tick-borne diseases like encephalitis (brain inflamation, sometimes deadly) are in their saliva and will infect you immediately, so I absolutely don't want you to think it's fine to get ticks as long as you get rid of them fast. it's better to get rid of them fast, send them for testing, and probably get on preventative antibiotics for a couple of weeks, because if caught early, lyme is treatable, even curable.
So it's all about a reasonable balance. Yes we need to restore biodiversity, but it's not without risks. is the lawn somewhere children play unsupervised every day? Somewhere you often walk barefoot? do you live in an at-risk area, or near woods with wild animals like deer who can infect ticks? then keep it to short grass. Conversely, large swathes of unused land, or tiny patches of decorative grass in the middle of a city that no one ever walks on, hiking spots where you only go with appropriate gear and bug spray, maybe even a designated spot in your backyard if you live far from wild animals, can and should be used to restore native plants as tall as you wish.
Also I would love it if people who don't have lyme actually reblogged this too lol. This is a horrendous illness, that affects every part of your body, that ruined my life and killed comrade leslie feinberg, and you need an appropriate level of fear to stay safe from it.
when your textbooks rewrite history, you have a generation of adults that cant consume anything that makes them feel bad. its not that the books have 'guilt their central theme', its that these people finally find out the truth and their own prejudice and bigotry makes them feel guilty. it activates their conscience, and they blame new information instead of decades of sanitation
this whole white guilt thing.. man i don’t think most people want anyone to feel guilty we just want people to feel SYMPATHY for others its not about guilt its about having compassion for human suffering . which I sadly been seen stripped away even more in other states because Sympathy is now considered WOKE its ridiculous.
It's because you dont blame the people who did it. You blame the entire group.
Native Americans were not peaceful. We treat them as this peaceful homogenous group that had no worries until the fire nation attacked. But in reality, native american tribes (along with mesoamericans) had a long history of attacking other tribes, killing, enslaving, raping, destroying cultures, stealing, etc. Just like every other race. Like it is undoubted that tons of native american tribes ended violently before any Europeans made it there.
If history books only portray native americans as a homogenous group that was only peaceful and kind, then they arent portraying them accurately. And if those same books only portray Europeans as bad, then it shows a double standars (very common in #woke media).
If we can judge white people for the actions of their ancestors, then it should equally apply to other races. But tresting other races like that isnt very #woke, is it?
Dont try that whole 'sins of the father' thing unless you apply it to everyone. And it will apply to everyone.
Amy Coney Barret could recite facts from legal cases without notes or reference.
This new nominee couldn’t even define a woman.
People need to understand how unacceptable it is that Kentanji Brown Jackson wouldn't define woman or the fact that her answer for many questions regarding her record and past cases was "I don't know" and "I don't remember the details of that case."
Before a Supreme Court nominee has their hearing they are told what cases they will be asked about specifically in order to give the nominee time to review the case and familiarize themselves with it in order to answer any questions that will be asked.
Kentanji Jackson was well aware what topics she would be asked about. She knew what cases would be referenced. For her to be answering "I don't know" and "I don't remember" means either she did not do her due diligence and take the time to review these cases before her hearing (which is a point against her. Do you want someone who won't take time to properly research and prepare on the Supreme Court?) or she is lying in an effort to make herself look better. Neither of those are good options and both are reasons enough to keep her off the Supreme Court or on the bench at all.
Her refusal to define the word woman is not her legitimately not knowing, it's her attempting to get points from a certain political party. And that means she is not an objective judge and does not separate her bias from her work. Which means she should never be on the Supreme Court.
Especially since one of the questions she answered “I don’t know” to was “what is your opinion on whether individuals possess natural rights?”

This sounds like a great idea!
@whereprolifestuffgoes I want to make sure you know that Texas is not putting the death penalty on women who abort, not by any stretch of the imagination.
All our prolife laws specifically say that women who abort illegally aren’t prosecuted - the person who performed the abortion or provided her the means to perform it on herself are prosecuted. Even then our harshest penalty is 10 years in prison if the abortion happened without her consent, 5 if she consented.
And there’s no real push to prosecute women in Texas, at least not one that’s going anywhere. Certainly not the death penalty.
Wednesday afternoon, in the wake of the Supreme Court's landmark decision to leave untouched a critical Texas anti-abortion bill, noted abor

First things first: Trump did awkwardly hold up a Bible last year outside the White House and it was pretty cringeworthy.
So I’m looking for some insight on a topic very important to me. For context, I was raised Catholic, but I attended a nondenominational college and married a nondenominational evangelical Protestant. I have read the entire Bible but have only just started reading the Catholic Catechism.
I feel at home in the Catholic Church, but I don’t feel like I truly understood the Gospel and the Biblical drama until college. For some reason, Catholic priests don’t seem to properly explain the Gospel during homilies. It was my Bible class in college and my husband who helped me understand the full story of the Bible and how Jesus’ death and resurrection make sense in the context of the entire Biblical narrative, and how important these events really were. The fact that Jesus died so that our sins would no longer be held against us, He rose again in a symbol of victory and as a way to verify that He truly was the Son of God, and the fact that we as Christians receive this grace freely through faith, that is the Gospel. (I also believe that “Faith without works is dead,” (James 2:26) but that’s not my focus here.) Before college, I only had a kind of vague idea that Jesus died for our sins, and He somehow opened the gates of Heaven as a result. In fact, the other weekend, my priest said something along the lines of “Loving your neighbor, that’s the Good News of the New Testament,” and that just isn’t accurate (at the very least, it paints far from a full picture).
I suppose what I’m trying to clarify is why the Catholic Church seems to have such a hard time enunciating the Gospel in a way that makes sense in context with the rest of the Bible and a way that emphasizes its importance. Does anyone have any thoughts? Someone who has been to Catholic seminary? Anyone regardless of background with knowledge on the subject? Or even fellow Catholics who kind of understand my conundrum? I’m definitely not looking to start a fight, but I could definitely use some words of wisdom.
mary magdalene:
One time in literature class my professor was talking about myths and Christianity and how in the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice he fails to overcome death but how in the medieval version “Sir Orfeo” the hero succeeds because now this myth was being told in a world where Death was a thing that was overcome and could be, where the King had rescued his bride; and then he started talking about the transition and difference between the pagan world and the advent of Christianity and said “in a world full of stories of gods pursuing people in wrath and lust, can you imagine how it must have been to hear of a God pursuing people in love?” And every few days I still get emotional about that
“omg teenaged girls nowadays look so much more put-together than i did at their age, what are they feeding them-“
its pedophilia. theyre getting fed an increasingly normalised culture of pedophilia. girls arent allowed to Be Kids anymore and its really starting to show
Remember not to envy them or to let their beauty take away from your worth. They are being groomed. Feel protective. Feel heartbroken for what they've been robbed of. See the girls behind the makeup.
