I worry a little bit that people who refuse to learn about ai as a part of their anti ai position are going to be extremely unprepared to understand what’s actually scary about it and already have their digital literacy at risk tbh

not that I am some genius in this regard but if you follow ai developments even slightly you might change the things you are most worried about. do people know the extent to which ai is already eating itself and how meaningless this is making swaths of the internet. do people know that there are plenty of random mid-sized companies today buying their employees’ likenesses to create digital clones and using these to make hundreds of videos. I am so much more worried about labor and surveillance and abuse than people becoming lazy about writing emails. and idk man I sort of like and respect people who are willfully ignorant about it as a way of minimizing its force in their lives and I am in some ways jealous but also when I see posts that basically still boil down to “chatgpt will never fool me” I am like 😭😭😭 for one thing not the only thing to be concerned about, for another thing I am really sorry but I don’t think you’re right

Replied to a recent comment on a fic that I wrote years ago and then took the time to revisit previous comments and I say this with complete sincerity:

Leaving a comment on a fic provides compounding delight. Authors will love initially receiving a comment, will love later recalling this and that particular aspect of a comment, and they will love rereading comments and being reminded how readers enjoyed the work.

Comments are not a one-time act of kindness and consideration. They keep giving.

Thank you to those who take the time to give a nice word, describe an excited reaction, point out favorite parts, and generally let it be known that not only has the work been read but it had some effect. :)

Oh man I gotta answer this one. JUDITH AND BEA: Judith and Bea would probably meet up somewhere, start off the evening making really dark jokes about all the things that have happened to them, and then end the evening awkwardly crying together on the bus ("No, you're so strong, you've dealt with so much and SURVIVED, you are AMAZING, don't ever FORGET THAT" etc etc). At their low points, Judith would think Bea is a jerk and Bea would think Judith is a complete sucker.

CLAIRE AND GRACE: Grace would take Claire under her wing as a sort of spooky mentor. The world getting you down? Have you ever considered biting them right back? I think Claire would have a ton of trust issues off the bat (hah!) but she would eventually come around to really respect Grace. She'd also spend at least one evening wondering if she was actually into Grace or if she just wants to BE her.

OWEN AND RHYS: They are going golfing together. Neither of them are good at golf. It does not matter.

A. BIRD AND AURELIUS: Absolutely hate each other at the start, eventual throuple with Alden.

And a bonus! LENNOX AND JACK (from Dice Shame [which I am also on], this one comes direct from Rob himself): I have to imagine Lennox would view Jack as a useful idiot easily manipulated to his own ends. And Jack would probably fall for a prophetic dream and his charms until he caught on at which point, kill it with fire. Lots of it!

Made this lovely book with my dearest @esperanzagalaxy !!! It's a collection of all the dice shame art we've made (over 100!!) and we had a fucking blast cutting and stapling and folding and assembling all of them together. What a wonderful thing to own. 🥰
